(Pertaining to Bush/Cheney,..and ..the Iraq war),.............Of ALL the DEATH and the DESTRUCTION(on both sides)..that those 2 BAST***'S have caused with a War that they KNEW was PHONEY,.......I make the following statement;

I hope the story above(More than any Iraq story)...............HAUNTS them BOTH....IMMEASURABLY, for the rest of their days on Earth !

They are BOTH are guilty of WAR CRIMES !!

Attention ..MODERATORS.

Would you plz. move this topic to the water cooler.

I posted it here(on AA) By Mistake.

Thank You.

NH/BB's

And all my friends and family in the Armed forces will disagree NHBB.

Well,...It's OK to disagree with each other BigMac.

However, Myself, and and Millions of others, sent a CLEAR MANDATE(of a message) to those who wanted to continue the FAILED policy's of Bush and CHENEY.

And THAT(IMHO) Speaks Volumes !!!

Please make a copy of one of the "millions" that signed the mandate and send it to our guys and gals in Iraq.
I'm sure they'll be glad to see the "volumes" at work in their best interest and the worlds.
While you're at it... ask "the soon to be Pressy" why not pull out of Iraq ASAP ?
or you might try to stop watching CNN

I feel for the men and woman who suffer from the stresses of war and I am grateful for their sacrifice.

That being said I believe the suicide rate for men and woman in the armed forces is less than the suicide rate of the general population.

According to FOX that is incorrect. Over all the suicide rate for the armed forces is a bit higher (on a percentage basis) than for the nation as a whole.

suicide rates

The Army rate is higher than the civilian suicide rate for 2003, which was 10.8 per 100,000, according to the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But the Army number tracked closely with the rate for civilians aged 18-34, which was 12.19 per 100,000 in 2003.

"These numbers should be a wake-up call on the mental health impact of this war," said Paul Rieckhoff, executive director of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. "One in three soldiers will come back with post traumatic stress disorder or comparable mental health issues, or depression and severe anxiety."

According to this article when you include veterans the numbers sky rocket. I do not see any citations so I do not know how accurate it is.

suicide rates

The suicide rate among Americans as a whole was 8.9 per 100,000, but the level among veterans was at least 18.7. That figure rose to a minimum of 22.9 among veterans aged 20 to 24 – almost four times the nonveteran average for people of the same age.

This article seems to suggest that the rate among active soldiers is a bit lower than the nation as a whole.

More info

On Aug. 16, 2007 the U. S. Army released data revealing that there were 99 suicides within the Army in 2006. Thirty of them occurred in Iraq or Afghanistan. This compares to 87 suicides in 2005 and 67 in 2004. However, when comparing the data to the suicide rate for the same age and gender group of the total U.S. population, there were approximately 19 suicides per 100,000 people in the general population versus 17.3 suicides per 100,000 soldiers.

From what I have read so far, the suicide rate spikes when vets are included. My guess is that the care we provide after they have completed their service to the nations is sadly lacking.

This is what I was referring to. Either way suicide is a terrible thing to happen.

But that is ignoring an entire segment of the military. Those who have served and were injured (mentally or physically) should not be forgotten. This nation has forgotten them. The VA is under funded and over burdened. Soldiers who are in dire need of assistance are being left by the road side to fend for them selves.

When you add the retired vets into the over all numbers, the suicide rate is quite a bit higher than the national average.

Good LORD..Cosworth,

HOW can the VA be UNDERFUNDED ??

Bush/Cheney have had..NO PROBLEM...coming up with the Multi-BILLIONS ($$$) for the "On going" Abortion in Iraq.

Your not suggesting that Bush/Cheney are only willing to spend the $$$..."one way" ------> are you ???

Many don't go for help Cos.....very many.
They find solace in addictive/destructive past times.....until they come to grips with their selves they won't get help.So how is it they are left on the side of the road?

And many more do go for help and are turned away or face extremely long wait times. That should not be. This country has droped the ball on vets and that is nothign new. Look at the Nam vets and agent orange.
