What's new

5TH week vacation coming back?

interesting... I presume that was due to original DL's decision and not one of the NW/IAM cities?

Kev,
NWA never had much in MIA, just a few Airbus from Concourse G, no World Club. At one point I recall seeing a DC-10 going to AMS, but KLM eventually tookover and later suspended the route. Did they have m/l before the merger? Recall them being weak at FLL too.

They definitely did send DC-10, not sure if the route lasted until the 330s came into the picture. Besides DTW and MSP aren't huge markets for MIA so its not surprising it wasn't a key station for NW.

if DL is just like every other airline and every other airline, even with unions, can't stop job losses, then what is the value of a union?

Waiting.....................

For what?

The value of representation has been explained to you countless times. People have demonstrated the value of consistant application of policy & procedure, shown experiential examples, and real world financial ones as well. All have fallen on deaf ears, so either you're a low information employee who is perfectly happy being spoon fed what you employer chooses to condition you with, can't grasp what is being shared with you, or are simply itching for a debate.

Which is it?

Hey Kev is the outcome of the mayoral primary here a credence to the turn around in labor? I hope the people here aren't dumb enough to support this guy backed by the stupid unions working against their very own interests as tax payers and city residents.

??

I'm not sure what you're trying to convey here, and even if I did, I'm not familiar enough w/BOS politics- or either candidate's story- to really weigh in...

And when it all comes down to lay-offs,consistant application of policy & procedure, experiential examples, and real world financial, it all means nothing, which has been proven, time and time again!

How many airlines have avoided lay-offs, simply because they had representation?

Hell, lately, union reps are more worried about appeasing the company, in order to keep their hands in the workers pockets, even if that number is dwindling, than appeasing their members !

Yep the IAM got taken to the cleaners at HA, NW, UA, US, etc. They left with their tail between their legs. And we have people on this forum like 700 who come trotting along saying what a great privilege and honor it was to serve on a bankruptcy negotiating committee that never reached a consensual agreement, and later goes around justifying the concessions. That's what unions are for.

Unions can "railroad" employees and inconsistently represent employees, use double standards or cast grievances and arbitration in a different light if the subject is not liked by the powers to be. Unions are nothing more than political organizations that are a boon for the people running them and politicians their PACs support.
