Chilling to hear the voices of the controllers and especially Betty Ong:

Audio of the stunned exchanges between ground control, pilots and authorities during the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US have been made public for the first time.

The tapes of the exchanges were published by the Rutgers Law Review overnight in the run-up to the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

"Did you just say something hit the World Trade Centre?" an incredulous military official asked shortly after the start of the attacks.

USAir simulation pretty amazing

Well getting Osama bin Laden was one thing that Obama got done in less than 3 years that George couldnt get done in 7. By concentrating our resources on getting him instead of taking Iraqs oil it gave our boys what they needed to "get er done". Great job by our boys in the military and thanks Mr President for making sure they had what they needed.

Was in Manhattan today for the Labor Day Parade, it was inspiring as we came over the I 495 approach to the MidTown Tunnell to look south and see the new WTC Tower One rising into the skyline with two cranes on top. Cant wait to see the rest. Have two cousins working on it, they feel a sense of pride and ownership like no other job before, they feel they are making their mark in history. As a kid I recall watching the Twins go up, my best friends father was a Union electrician working on it and of course whenever anyone came to visit it was a must see (parking was better there along the abandoned West Side Highway than it was by the Empire State Building.

The flyby animations are pretty cool but nothing beats sitting on the RH side doing a Canarsie approach to LGA. I still look every time.

Working at LGA tonight you can see the infinity lights from in front of HGR 3 only saw pictures until tonight its different in person...

Don't forget Bill "I didn't have sessual relations with that woman" Clinton had 3 chances to get bin laden.. One time was bin laden at a gathering with Saudi princes as through the eyes of a predator verified by ground intelligence. , and killing him and them as collateral damage was unacceptable to Bill.

While your at it, why doesn't the TWU petition the Whitehouse and Obama to release us from mediation? Oh I forgot it Larry Gibbons has complet autonomy over the NMB even though union friendly board members outnumber the anti-unionists.

Really Bob,

The decision Obama made to let the SEALS do what they do was a slam dunk. The only thing he had to overcome was his liberal tendencies for political correctness, and not offending our enemies. Take a look at the rules of engagement our soldiers have to fight under, if we had the same BS during WW II, we would have lost.

He was asked during Presidetial debates,if there was credible evidence OBL was in Pakistan would you go after him, His answer was YES !! And they got him!! Give credit where credit is due.

Lets see, ten years ago today the attacks occured and 3000 people were murdered as they went about their day. News reports at the time said that Bin Laden was suspected and that he was reported to be in Afghanistan, so what did we do? We invaded Iraq, an enemy of Bin Laden! Perhaps if we had not spread out our military on two fronts, with most of it going to Iraq, they would have gotten Bin Laden eight years ago, the victims familiies would at least have some sense that justice was done before waiting 10 years, our economy would not be in shambles, our government would have much less debt and we probably would not be paying $4/gal for gas.

Not one of the Terrorists could be traced to Iraq. There were no links whatsoever between the attacks and Iraq.

The fact is that Obama, the Muslim, the guy who wasnt born in the USA, the guy who hates America and any of the scores of other lies the Radical Right has thrown out there, was President when our military got Bin Laden. I think that was important to the American people, maybe not important to the oil producers who were pissed that Iraqi oil was keeping the price of oil low but I'm guessing it was even more important for the families of the Victims and the Survivors to know that the man is no longer a threat.

When you engage in actual fighting, if victory is long in coming, then men's weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be damped. If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength. Again, if the campaign is protracted, the resources of the State will not be equal to the strain. Sun Tzu

Obama got him, but lets not forget that we have been collecting info. on his where abouts for years, way before he was elected. As far as Obama being a muslim, once a muslim always a muslim, he converted to Christianity only to get elected as president. Middle name Hussain, Muslim. Wake up

None of us will forget when we first heard of the attack. I happened to find a T.V. just in time to see the second jet hit the World Trade Center. I will never forget the sick feeling in my stomach. My father was a fireman and I remember the video of everyone running away from the place while the firemen went into the buildings knowing they would probably not come out alive. There were so many acts of courage that day that it would be impossible to list them. 343 firemen died. They gave their lives to save others. Our young men and women in the military are fighting as we speak to keep us safe from the same kind of sub humans that planned and carried out this diabolical act. God Bless America! and God Bless our men and women in the armed forces!!! We will never forget.

Had Clinton gone after Bin Laden when he had the chance, perhaps 9/11 wouldn't have happened at all.

I'm glad justice was finally served... And it is really an insult to our military to claim that Obama got him. Professional soldiers took him out, and intel operatives are the ones who tracked and identified him. Obama just had to nod his head in the right direction a few times.

AA didn't commemorate anything on their website, which I'm not surprised by because I know they don't want to draw attention and make 9/11 any more about AA than it already is.

Was there anything on Jetnet to honor the employees on 11 and 77? Any sort of remembrance at the private memorial at the Flight Academy or in Grapevine at the Crew Memorial?

I'm a conservative, and vote accordingly. If Clinton wasn't such a p-ssy, Eric's right, 911 wouldn't have happened at all

The mission in Somalia was seen by many as a failure.[31] The Clinton administration in particular endured considerable criticism for the outcome of the operation. The main elements of the criticism surround the administration's decision to leave the region before completing the humanitarian and security objectives of the operation, as well as the perceived failure to recognize the threat Al-Qaida elements posed in the region as well as threat against United States security interests at home.[32] Critics claim that Osama bin Laden and other members of Al-Qaida provided support and training to Mohammed Farrah Aideed forces. Osama bin Laden even denigrated the administration's decision to prematurely depart the region stating that it displayed "the weakness, feebleness and cowardliness of the US soldier".[33]

The loss of American military personnel during the Black Hawk Down operation evoked public outcry. Television images of American soldiers being dragged through the streets by Somalis were too graphic for the American public to endure. The Clinton Administration responded by scaling down US humanitarian efforts in the region.[33]

On September 26, 2006, in an interview on Fox News with Chris Wallace, former President Bill Clinton gave his version of events surrounding the mission in Somalia. Clinton defended his exit strategy for US forces and denied that the departure was premature. He said conservative Republicans had pushed him to leave the region before the objectives of the operation could be achieved: "...[Conservative Republicans] were all trying to get me to withdraw from Somalia in 1993 the next day after we were involved in 'Black Hawk down,' and I refused to do it and stayed six months and had an orderly transfer to the United Nations."[34]

Clinton's remarks would suggest the United States was not deterred from pursuing their humanitarian goals because of the loss of US forces during Black Hawk Down. In the same interview, President Clinton also stated unequivocally that Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaida had absolutely nothing to do with the events of Black Hawk Down. He said the mission in Somalia was only about Mohammed Farrah Aidid and any claim to the contrary was "bull".[34]
