With a 90% participation rate American Airlines Flight Attendants vote to authorize a strike against AA at 96.8%.

The gloves come off now.

No surprise here.

With this vote, the company now knows -- without a doubt -- we are unified and will do whatever is necessary to get the contract we deserve. A contract that recognizes the sacrifices we made in 2003 and continue to make.

A mechanic wishes yall good luck. We have to convince tulsa somehow not to vote in or POS contract.

typo..at 98.6% on topic line...just seeing if your all paying attention...!

either way..its good news.

This is rather comical - the FAs, a group with much stereotypical crap attached (which I'll not reference as it would probably offend someone, somewhere and no doubt contribute to the demise of the spotted piss ant), seems to have a greater sense of unity than the big bad AMTs, about whom it's been said "couldn't agree on a $5.00 per hour raise".

Sic 'em - good for you!

Typo in title corrected.

Also two threads on same topic merged.

Your company is bleeding red ink and you provide terrible service and for that you want a raise.

Be glad you have a union to protect you, because in the real world, you'd be replaced by now by people who actually want to provide a service and have their company survive.

You have conveniently "forgotten" about the corporate rape of shareholders that occurs ever year - were this the "real world", as you refer to it, Arpey and minions would have been history long ago, but they are continuing to reap million-dollar rewards that are most certainly unearned..

Alrighty then, we have a new anti-labor poster who wants us to continue to subsidize their dirt cheap airfares. 😀

Hello there .... Go take a 33% pay and benefit cut and then let me know how you really feel.
Oh throw in that your precious managers are all taking big bonuses , year after year after year.
BUTT OUT !!!!

But what if....

this simply forces the company to file Chapter 11 and throw out all the contracts? I can assure you that there are many people out there who would work for your wages and work rules, though, so don't be so quick to hit streets. And, frankly, if the managers and execs had been taking "reasonable" compensation over the last 7 years, would the vote have been "no"?? Doubt it. I wish you all luck.

Anyone dumb enough to hold onto AA shares, gets what they deserve. I don't feel sorry for AA's shareholders either. They have voted to keep the existing BOD and they have chose to hold shares in a company whose cost structure is not competitive.

Go ahead, raise fares. I really won't mind. However, many other consumers will mind and simply won't fly. You might get higher pay, but you'll also have far fewer jobs.

I've been in a similar situation. I chose to find a new job. The reason management can get away with such big cuts is because they know you guys won't leave and move on to better things. It's not management's fault that you can't (or won't) transfer your skills elsewhere.

Nice turnout and great vote. I'm so happy and proud of us! we landed and came through the terminal on the way to the hotel van and all the other FAs were gleefully passing the word. Our usual hotel van drivers had heard the news and congratulated us and the outbound crews from the hotel were all ecstatic. It kind of feels like we got that fire back that they sucked out of us in 2003. We're back as a force to be reckoned with.

The FAs are united and the AMTs also need to show unity. The FAs negotiators did not bring back concessionary langauge to vote on, we did. All we need to do is VOTE NO. I support the FAs and they, like every other employee at AA who "gave" concessions deserves to have replaced what we "gave" up so AA did not run to BK and management could continue bonuses.

As the FAs are saying, "Got guts?". They just prooved they do.

Who says we are bleeding red ink? The company? Funny how cargo makes money but AA loses it. Hum? Cargo flies in the belly of the aircraft you fly yet we lose money? Hum?

Terrible service? Want to be more definitive? Did your aircraft arrive safely?

Real world? Again, can you be more distinctive? YOUR real world or the real world that all AA employees have lived in for the past 7 years? If you refer to your real world, sorry, but I do not recognize brown skies. However, in MY real world I have been lied to and disrespected. If AA loses $500 + million in a quarter and the top dog still gets $4.7 MILLION dollars that is my fault?

Who are these "people" you refer to that would want to replace us so they could "provide a service and have their company survive."?

You insinuate that we want AA to not survive. That is incorrect. I wish for AA to live long and prosper... but not at my expense. Funny how Southwest has happy employees and FedEx and UPS as well and they make a profit.

Unlike the twu the APFA came through again. Maybe its time we let them replace the worthless twu. Congratulations on your solidarity and your perserververance you are all willing to fight the fight which is more thn i can say about my comrades. Good luck I stand on your side
