A-321 Re-Config Questions ?

With the upcoming (unless Tempe at the last minute realizes what a big mistake this is) A-321 reconfiguration from F26 to F16 does anyone know if the plan is to leave the current FC galleys and closet unchanged or are they also getting the A-320 style makeover/downgrade as well ?

Thats a good question. If they remove 10 seats they definately don't need all that galley space. There is honestly too much wasted space in the f/c galley on the 321. What I don't understand is why they kept the closets on the 319. I can not see them leaving the closet fwd of the 2R door at all. I doubt they'll even slide it up. The seats are staggered up front so depending on what they remove the seats would remain staggered to the first row of coach. It's staggered back there as well. IF they are able to fix that I'd honestly love it. I HATE serving on there. I always seem to forget to serve a row somwhere along the way. :lol: Does anyone know when the few 757's start to get reconfigured with the envoy seats?
 
I heard they are going to keep the last 3 rows of the A330 as is and reconfigure the rest of the plane the same way so that they can squeeze in 6 more Y seats. apparently, not only do customers love powdered creamer, they like when their legs cramp up after being jammed into a seat for 7 hours...uh, gloria, tell them we need 248 wheelchairs.
 
We have a whole spreadsheet on this one. Apparently, no one really needs to stretch their legs in flight. It's all a myth, and I saw it disproved on my spreadsheet recap just this morning.

We also started looking at all the DL cabins for reconfig. We can squeeze so many more seats on those planes to Europe, it'll be just like going to Japan!

According to my spreadsheet, we can actually reduce the entire Y configuration all the way down to 30" before anyone really notices. That'll give us like an extra 7 seats, on average, on the entire US fleet. Then when we get started on DL, the money will just be flowing in. I can't wait to put some pretty charts and clip art into a PowerPoint about that spreadsheet and show it off at the next divisional meeting next week! :up: :up: :up:

And just wait until you guys see what we're doing w/ F! This 320 reconfig was just a test run. Now we know that we can take those puppies down to 32", and if we shave an inch off of either side we can do a 3-2 configuration. It'll be just like flying on an MD80, which I hear is just "super".
 
Don't even joke like that Barbell, you won't have any business customers left.

The whole situation is totally unacceptable. I realize you're joking, but it really isn't funny.

So what you're saying, Barbell, is that the planes are going to be like those little capsule hotels in Japan, except they fly? I can just hear the taller folks like l4pi now. :angry: :down: :down:
 
what will the new 321 config be? when is it to srtart/be finished?
 
the 321 has such issues with range and power as it is. I can't wait to see all the problems after they cram more coach seats in. I'd be fine with them adding 2 seats by the 2L door though. We all know the door will never be used for boarding. All I hope for is that they leave at least 1 closet for a coat.
 
Speaking of reconfigurations when is the 757 ETOPS being done? I see that the 321 is reconfigured on certain routes in spring to 16 up front and the 757 with 12 envoy to europe. I was curious if they were really going to use the envoy seats from the 330 on the 757. Can that really be done?
 
Perhaps scheduling is running into problems with the new operational limitations the A321 reconfig would create. If the A321 can't be used transcon anymore, what takes its place? The 757s are not an option due to the 8F configuration. If the sandcastle starts running more transcons w/ A319s, then they need to add flights or lose capacity on what should be some pretty lucrative routes. Meantime, shorter routes that are profitable w/ an A319 may not work with a much bigger A321. Just a guess, but that could be what's behind the recent silence from Tempe.
 
Are the 16 seat configs loaded in the res system?
Yes but it was a about two weeks ago that I checked. Check on the PHL-LAX runs around april. I think thats when I checked. Some are saying 16. I'm gonna give a look.

Ok just typed in a random date of March 25th and the seats were 26 and 143. I typed in April 25 and the 321's seating is 16 and 153.

Cool. I really like those seats. I they will look nice actually. Hell if we can't have new at least they will be nice used seats.
