It's been a Looooooong G-D Time coming, but the 'workers' can now tell the " MAN " to $-PAY-$ to PLAY, OR ELSE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and by-the-way, Throw in BETTER than AVERAGE 'BENNIES', as well.

HA HA HA HA HA HA

“In 2020, the percent of wage and salary workers who were members of unions—the union membership rate—was 10.8 percent, up by 0.5 percentage point from 2019, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.Jan 28, 2021

Worker unionization in the US rose to a four-year high at the end of 2020, but the statistic comes with an asterisk. While the percentage of unionized workers rose, there was a decline in the total number of US employees represented by unions, which fell by 321,000 last year.

Higher compensation for employees means higher cost of a corporations services and products. For those on a fixed income this doesn't help much.

Only Bears could read about people choosing to retire and figure that's "giving it to the Man"....

The people who can afford to retire are the ones who earned enough to have retirement income.

That's not your average fast food or grocery/retail worker.

With inflation, it will be interesting to see how long those savings last before those retirees have to go back to work...

I hate to tell you, you are out of touch with the labor force and unions here.....

We had a group come into the PIT engine shop to do some type of CF-6 or CFM-56 mod, which PIT engine shop could not due to some warranty restriction. These guys were top notch mech's. Our mech's worked with them, rather limited though and claimed these guys were pulling in $25 an hour, just about a quarter or so below that at the same time, had full bennies ans so on, just like their unionized PWA counter parts.
Many other high paying corporations are taking the same non negotiated union approach, providing full bennies and so on, just like their unionized workers in other 'unionized' facilities.....without all the union issues.

This is a fundamental labor force change. And it's happening across the nation.

dell. U and Mr 'K I A', Olesen, Tell all UR BS to the Guy, Girl i !n the Crane', in Long Beach, L A or Seattle !

I see you're still reeling over the tragic democratic party upset in Virginia and others all across the nation. Just Biden time until the big one in 2022?

How much do container crane operators make?

The average pay for a Container Crane Operator is $55,946 a year and $27 an hour in the United States. The average salary range for a Container Crane Operator is between $40,922 and $68,469. On average, a High School Degree is the highest level of education for a Container Crane Operator.

LONG BEACH, California — Crane operators who belong to a powerful union and earn up to $250,000 a year transferring containers from ships to trucks are worsening the supply chain crisis that threatens Christmas by goofing off on the job, frustrated truckers told the Washington Examiner.
“In 15 years of doing this job, I’ve never seen them work slower,” said Antonio, who has spent hours waiting at Los Angeles County ports for cargo to be loaded. “The crane operators take their time, like three to four hours to get just one container. You can’t say anything to them, or they will just go [help] someone else.”
The Washington Examiner spoke to six truck drivers near the Long Beach/Terminal Island entry route, and each described crane operators as lazy, prone to long lunches, and quick to retaliate against complaints. The allegations were backed up by a labor consultant who has worked on the waterfront for 40 years. None of the truckers interviewed for this story wanted to provide a last name because they fear reprisals at the ports.

The crane operators are part of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, which also represents longshoremen. Veteran operators who have a set schedule make $65 an hour and are paid for up to 4,000 hours per year, which include hours they don't actually work - approximately $250,000 a year, according to labor consultant Jim Tessier , who represents longshoremen in disputes against the union.

Yeah, a couple hundred guys earning $65/hour and getting paid for hours not worked is hardly indicative of where labor is today.

But, it's a lot like Bear's airport yoga pant fantasy. He'll never get any of that, no matter how good it looks.

As an aside.....when UAir was looking, as many times before, like it was funeral time, ' 04/ 05,.....they offered a sep package, which wasn't too bad...Many mechs left for greener, more secure pastures. Most, if not all who left, from the engine shop went to the non union PWA facility down south.....so how'd that good 'ol union loyalty work out there?
