DL is somehow managing to either do a whole lot more work than what was outsourced or it is insourcing a whole lot of work, but DOT data shows that DL added 1,000 personnel to Tech Ops in 2011. 2012 data has not been released.

DL also reported for 2012 that it spent $2B to maintain its fleet; 38% of that figure (based on 2011 percentages) was outsourced - or about $750M. But DL also that it gets more than $500M from insourced maintenance.
Even without its MRO business, DL's outsourcing percentage is lower than AS, B6, UA, US, and WN.
DL's effective outsourcing percentage is less than 15% when you factor in its MRO business which is a smaller percent of outsourcing than any other large US airline.
