AA anxious for contract

Good thing they were anxious and the President of the Union confirmed it..
Cause we still waitin <_<

Seems like AA is anxious for a deal by April 30 which the TWU contract is set to expire. They have suggested to the union negotiators to prepare for a marathon session.
My understanding is that they want a new contract in place for leverage in merger talks with CAL.

BOHICA
Wrong- Contract does not expire until December 31, 2008. Read your Scope. If AA is in a rush, then there is no need for the Union to rush. This would be the time to be methodical, and deliberate, and make sure all your i's are dotted, and your t's are crossed. Think it through guys....

The contract we voted on was set to become amendable on December 31, 2008. The contract that Jim Little voted on ratified on behalf of all of us became amendable on May 1, 2008. <_<

From Article 47:

THIS AGREEMENT will become effective as of April 15, 2003, and will continue in full
force and effect until and including April 30, 2008, and will renew itself until each
succeeding April 30th thereafter,

Your right. I have the letter, Little /s/ stating the Dec 31, 2008. But May 1, 2008, is the date. I stand corrected. Here is another "little" tid bit of information. Did you know a letter was /s/ basically stating that if AA, went into Bankuptcy. TWU would be on the list of creditors, and that AA wouldn't seek any more concessions. This came from the TWU/ATD site back in 2003. Interesting. B)

Thats true. But if and or when we get another contract that letter becomes null and void. That letter was for the concession contract only. I would be very wary if AA gives us back everything we ask for. JMO but they could then file for bankruptcy in the future and hit us even harder than they did the first time. Imagine 17 per hour and a lost pention in fleet. If TWU has brains they'll get another one of those pre bankruptcy letters in place for this next contract.

You mean if the company is offering such letter... <_<

twu and brains in the same sentence, didn't think it was possible.

AMFAman, you're the one getting confused.

It's not, nor ever was, a question regarding the twu's collective intelligence in the home office. They do quite well for themselves at our expense.

Instead of Local 514 getting out of the "working together" er uh "Licking the Boot" plan after passing the amendable date, we see that our good friend Dennis Burchette says we should "give the company more time to respond to the unseen economic proposal".

This idiots are too stupid to see what is happening in the Pilot negotiations, which has been taking place much longer than the TWU negotiations.

Pilots have already called for and received NMB mediation assistance. The TWU still thinks their ass kissing will result in a reward of good faith.

Some things never change.

Why do you figure no dues paying member has been allowed to view the so-called "economic proposal" submitted by our negotiators? Could it be there really isn't one?

get ready for long drawn out negotiations the wonderful twu needs time to spin what the company wants, just like in 2003

The "economic" proposal is just that. It will be "economic" for the company to implement. Six year deal with a six percent raise and 1.5 percent raise a year. Also,it will have a new class of worker: The Part-time Temporary Shop Overhaul-Repair Mechanic-Person. This new class of worker will start at $7/Hr and Top-out at $12/hr in 20 yrs. The new worker will have no pension just a 401k with no match. Health insurance will be provided by government programs(like Wal-mart does).
The new workers will have TWU dues automatically taken from their wages reducing the chance of them getting fired.
