It is interesting that you fail to notice or even understand the chart

According to the chart the assumption of 3% is only for 2002 and 2003, not the previous years.
So according to the chart even if the 02 - 03 numbers are incorrect the rest of the graph back to 83 is not.
Furthermore: even with the smaller numbers for future projections the trend will be still downwards, but not as much.
And by the way, 3% is the standard used by economists when the want to project inflation numbers in the future.
Thanks for noticing.
Another chart says the inflation rate for 200-2003 was 1.57% (Ask Alan Greenspan):

As I stated in my previous post, I only wanted to feel a Little better. 😉

Bob,
Could you adjust that for the cost of living in N.Y. and the housing increases for the past 5 years. You know $200k homes in 1995 are going for $600k.

I know CIO, if you don't like it move to Tulsa, AA will just move all the International routes there to.
That math is beyond me however there are websites where you can punch in your earnings here and it will tell you the equivelent earnings you would need somewhere else to maintain your current lifestyle.

http://www.bankrate.com/brm/movecalc.asp

When you enter in the numbers here is what you get.

"A $62000 income in New York NY is equivalent to a $29344 income in Tulsa OK

You can take a decrease of 53% and maintain your standard of living."

Conversely, if you are going from Tulsa to New York here is what you get:

"A $62000 income in Tulsa OK is equivalent to a $130996 income in New York NY

You will need an increase of 111% to maintain your standard of living."

DC10 Hound;
"Ask Alan Greenspan" Thats like the sheep asking the Wolf for advice. Greenspan will spin anything to benifit the Banks and the Stockholders, in that order. Greenspan is the same guy who recently praised Reagans firing of the Air Traffic controllers and the decline of Labor Unions.

Oh, I know Bob, and I agree. That's why I added a 😉 to my post...

Still no response from most of the TWU faithful with the exception of a brief appearance from TWUer.

Whats the matter fellas, why are you avioding this topic?

The graph is an accurate reflection of how the TWU has performed with our pay over the last twenty years. However it does not take into account losses such as the unpaid daily 1/2 hr that we had added to our work week, or prefunding, flex benifits, loss of doubletime, loss of R&D, loss of deicing, straight time for training off shift and scores of other industry leading concessions that most other airlines still dont have.

Bob,

If we are discussing anything above a third grade playground arguement, they seem to always check out.

Maybe that is what "Checking it Out" stands for, he checks out the thread and if it contains the truth or is over his I.Q. level, then he "checks out" and fails to respond!

If we could put a line across the up area of the down trending chart it would make an A for the AMFA contract we had for a brief period of time.

CIO,

Don't you have an opinion on this matter?

Oh that's right, it is not a graph showing pay reduction and profession destruction in exchange for a job. You must not understand this particular type of charting?

Still no response from the TWU.

Well thats pretty much what we have come to expect from this "union".

Silence and inaction, as the members scream Pull Up Pull Up, they just push harder on the stick then blame us for giving them the controls. They dont care, they have their six figure parachutes.

20 YEARS OF CONCESSIONS IN PAY ALONE.

ADD IN THE BENEFIT AND WORK RULE CONCESSION AND WHAT DO YOU GET?

No Response!

Just silence.

"You could hear a pin drop"
They can lie and spin for ever about other airlines and other unions with ease, especially since most members will not spend any time researching what they are told, but.......
It is impossible for them to defend the twu’s performance to their own members.
The members will not buy any lies on that.
The members do not have to research the truth on twu's performance.
They live it every day. They feel it every day.
In their checkbook.

Yea but there is nothing like a little evidence to back up what you feel in your gut and what you see in your checkbook. A typical response would be that "you are living beyond your means" or as Sue Oliver said we "have unrealistic expectatations". Why is it unrealistic for an aircraft mechanic, who according to the ATA is at least 30% more productive to expect to get the same buying power that he had in the early eighties? Why should he be conent with earning less, especially when he produces more?
