By selling themselves as the company's choice for representation most members will realize that they are forking over two hours pay per month for nothing.
The majority of members look to the union for pay and benifits only. Most never file grievances or challenge what the company wants to do. However as the TWU induced panic of last year wears off, ( "They might go straight to Chapter 7 liquidation!!") and the magnitude of what we lost last year takes hold, more and more of these non-active members will realize that the return they get for the two hours of gross pay they fork over to the TWU is unacceptable. Many may reject unionism entirely as they see that non-union employees, who did not give up everything we did, get the same raises that we get.
Thats ok too. Because the line will be AMFA by 95% or better. The ones who figure that we dont need a union at all wont bother to vote. This cuts down what we need to win. Our biggest risk is that since the TWU has done such a lousy job that many are so turned off by the concept of unionism presented by the TWU that they will elect for no union at all and not vote. However that risk is small since AMFA collected well over 50% of the entire class and craft.
Still no TWU around to defend their twenty year track record.
