So are you saying that if all the unions had refused to accept concesions that all the airlines would have liquidated?

The airlines have nearly become utilities. There is no way that the government could have stood by and let over 50% of the industry shut down.

MCI,
(Because we've "busted em" in a "good nature" on each other over time, I KNOW you won't take offense to what I'm about to suggest.)

Given the exact same scenario , if that went down(the food) that way in say JFK/LGA/BOS/EWR, the "boys" would have punched out, walk right past the food, and totally IGNORED them. !!!

One NEVER, EVER, sit's at the SAME table, to "break bread" with the ENEMY  !!!
(Be it management, or the "weak sister" TWU)

<_< Bear----- The bottom line! In my humble opinon! This is all part of an agenda to get reed of all that is left of TWA! We've heard Carmin "one window" Ramono is actively seeking a lease for more space from Boeing in Tulsa! With excess capacity here at MCI, this can not be economically advantegous! So why persue it? Our ability to do heavy maintenance "in house" has systematicaly been taken away from us! Our shops and tooling, dismantaled, Thrown away, or shiped to Tulsa! And last, but not least, the skilled, experianced employee eliminated!!!! Sorry Bear, but that's how I see it!!!!

And what did you expect?

A Knight in shining armor?

To be treated what you consider"fairly"?

For years you screwed your brothers out on the line, now you seem shocked that you are getting screwed.

You helped the company and the TWU put through the concessions in 2003. They needed you for that. Well, now they dont need you anymore.
As a matter of fact you're more of an asset if you are laid off. Thats 1500 people that are counted for a representational election that will be scattered around and harder to get cards from. This way the company keeps its in house union in place.

Are you shocked by what is happening now? Do you expect sympathy from the same guys you screwed for years? Believe it or not, you will get it. But what do you expect us to do about it? Strike? Walk off the job to protect the same people who voted in the language that enabled the company to layoff anyone back to 1998 in the first place? You should have voted NO.? Sure we feel bad for you, but that aint going to happen.

Maybe if you had acted like union men then we would have had a union culture that was strong enough to fight for you now. But do you really think that anyone really cares anymore?

How does it feel to be on the recieving end? You were used to OH being King. Your leaders mistakenly thought they had commonality with the TWU leaders from Tulsa, only to get screwed by them.

Hey, you were warned but you chose not to listen.

I can't speak for Bob's nose, but I feel fully bent over every other Friday when I look at my paycheck. And what I feel on holidays far surpasses that.

Good point, the former TWA mechanics were told to be aware of the TWU and chose to follow their old AFL-CIO path.

Proud of what?

Twenty plus years of concessions?

The SRP/ OSM classification?

Hey Buck, It is nice to talk with you. Do you have anything to offer that you are proud of with your preferred choice of representation?

We chose the TWU? Where and at what time was that vote while we were TWA employees? Soon, and very soon I feel, you will no longer have MCIE to blame for the TWU's continuance and your own shortcomings in gaining the AMFA to AA.

Then will you begin to eat your own? This will be a very interesting tale to follow, as you chase your own... 😀

Yes you chose the TWU through your IAM representitive brother. You did not get to vote? Now you understand the TWU. I do not blame MCIE or the former TWA employee for anything but shortsightedness, I blame the TWU for the concessionary contracts they always bring back and the members who respond to every situation out of fear.

Even fear that you having your seniority would affect them.

Dignity? Hmmmmm, interesting subject! So I guess it does not bother you to sleep at night, knowing that you support an association that is fueling the unemployment of qualified people of the blue collar work forces of the United States to foreign countries..........Dignity you say????

At least my choice of representation does not lay down at the companys feet for 20 plus years. And then you have the AFL-CIO unions, whom not only stick the blade in the back of a union affiliate and turn the blade too.

Well actually the IAM chose for you. They could have pushed for a vote when AA blended the two companies. They probably would have won if they had since we have a lot of EAL guys on the line who say the IAM was better than the TWU.

Actually we can still blame MCIE if we fall short. Since you will have 10 year recall rights, you and all those who retired or died will still be on the list.

Sure it does.

More a campaign to protect Mr. Ramono's empire!!!!

You are making it personal. Its a choice between a large facility thats been modernized and an old facility that needs a lot of work.

For the record Bob! I worked most my aviation career at a "Line Station"! That's where the "Transplant" comes from!!!

Ok, if I forget to specify "those that voted yes" please accept my apology.

TELL ME ABOUT ALL THOSE MISSING PIN NUMBERS BOB!

It was sequential pin numbers and missing ballotts.

AND THE ILLEGAL VOTE LITTLE RAMMED THROUGH! WAS THAT MCI"S FAULT TOO???

MCI put the original contract through. IF MCI was not included the measure would have been voted down. So while you voted no, unfortunately you were a very small minority at MCI.

No, Your choice has managed to destroy premium jobs. In lets say, about 5 years. Your choice is leaving this "once proud industry", in ruins
