PHL is not a slot controlled airport, only LGA and DCA are now. Not sure if ORD is still slot controlled.

No, not really. It's competition. It's the "lets use these 12 RJs to make up for the three 737s that used to fly the route" mentality. You know it as well as I do (from what management tells us constantly): RJs use cheaper labor, therefore it makes more sense for (insert legacy carrier name here) Express to use, rather than mainline (higher paid employees) jets.

In the meantime, the skies and ramps get all the more crowded. 3 airplanes doing what 1 used to do.
