I don't know which is sadder, that this happened, OR that I'm not surprised.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A woman in a wheelchair traveling on U.S. Airways to Orlando was wheeled onto a tarmac in Las Vegas and forgotten about for hours, according to family members.

Jeanne Grettum said she landed in Las Vegas from California on her way to Orlando International Airport over the weekend.

While connecting to a new flight in Las Vegas, Grettum was wheeled to the tarmac and left there until an airport worker spotted her and moved her into a hallway, Local 6 reported.

Grettum then called her daughter in Palm Bay, who tried to straighten things out with U.S. Airways.

"She called me at 3 a.m., crying hysterically because she didn't know what to do and no one would help her," daughter Tammy Nelson said.

Grettum eventually arrived in Orlando 12 hours after she was originally scheduled to land.

U.S. Airways said a communication breakdown likely occurred because the plane was delayed getting to the gate in Las Vegas.
