ACA Pilot Furloughs

Today''s Aviation Daily reported that ACA is planning its first pilot furloughs in ten years. The brief article says that 52 pilots will be furloughed on April 3 and another 34 on May 1. I''m assuming that these furloughs are due to cutbacks on ACA''s UA* flying, but I suppose it could involve ACA''s DL* flying as well. Does anyone have the explanation for why this is happening, such as grounding the J41s, the impact of the Iraqi War, or too many pilots hired in anticipation of CRJ deliveries that didn''t happen?

The answer is #3. ACA took United to court to force UAL to reveal their long range utilization plans for ACA. Unfortunately, we lost. Also, if we retire the J-41''s (I don''t think we will unless United goes under) then we will have to furlough at least 500 more.
Don''t expect the Delta side to grow or shrink for the forseeable future.

Thanks for your response. And based upon that, I assume that ACA will not be taking any more CRJs until this issue is resolved with United. Is that correct?
