 Can you believe we have an elected AFA official promoting the Company's agenda? That's right I heard Omar is now one of the company's new compliance police. How can she represent the membership one minute and then check ride crews another? Back in the early 90s a lady afa E.A.P. representative and was in the training department. She was made to pick one or the other. Why don't we just move AFA offices to in-flight. Maybe someone can be base manager too. I guess she's in it for the lack of flight loss pay in the office. 😛h34r:

Is she doing check rides or observation rides? Only supervisors can do check rides.

Maybe it is the Inflight Standards Coach or Observation ride positions they were interviewing for?

The lines on this one are blurred. When she coaches somebody is it as a union rep or as a co-worker? She could use the information gathered for union business I suppose. These are not management positions and no information gathered is punative.

Anybody know what the union bylaws say about this?

IMO,This is a conflict of interest.

Dont get me wrong, there are some F/A's who need a little supervision but how can someone write you up and then when your supervisor calls you in for it, you call the union rep who wrote you up?!

This place is a circus and completely unprofessional.

you people need to get your facts straight before you post things you do not know about. she is an inflight standards coach and by no means is that a checkrider . it is a NON PUNITIVE position. they are there to HELP the crew members out incase they have any questions about the service or other things that might make the job a little easier. they will collecting data on what is wrong with the inflight service and sending it back to inflight anonimously . meaning that the form they fill out will not have flt numbers nor crew names. the inflight standards coach will show the form to the crew when they identify themselves as an inflight standards coach before the flt . they will occupy a pax seat. if the crew accepts the help in the inflight service during flt ,they will be happy to help. if not then the isc will stay out of your way. keep in mind that these isc's went through a challenging interview process . out of 250 that applied only 30 were accepted. they are knowledgable in policies and procedures safety procedures and in what is going on with the company good or bad. they will be focusing more on what is being done right by our f/a not on what's being done wrong. please give them your respect . once again , they are there to help. they are not there to write anyone up. that is not their job. one more thing. the isc will be in full uniform .

Doesnt matter IMO, I dont need someone that is a union rep "telling me about myself". SHe needs to be in the office working on union issues. Thats whats she is getting paid for. She obviously isnt doing that effectively so what makes us, as her peers, think she has soooo much time on her hands that she can fly around informing us of inflight standards. give me a break.

Geez...Have you ever heard of the observation program? Do you know anything about it? There is NO CONFLICT OF INTEREST!!!! They are basically F/As riding the system, filling out standard paperwork to compile for statistics. It is non-punitive and serves as a tool to improve inflight service and safety. I did this for four years. It is not a CHECKRIDE.

I don't get it. US has no service to speak of so why would anyone have any questions.

Ok, I get it. Its not a check ride. BUt let me say this, we are always complaining about reserve issues, meanwhile, our reserve chair is going to be spending her time flying around giving us advice and "helping us" with inflight issues. SHe will have the luxury of making her own schedule. Flying when she wants and not being on call for 24/7. and not living on 73 hours pay. What reserve issues? We have none.
