a/c 116 leaving the fleet today...headed to singapore.
How many to follow?

Don't worry, be happy, because it will soon be replaced by TED, according to a certain 320 pilot. Lots of single-class A320s will be sold by UAL to LCC. 😀

Why would we be selling 320's and then buying others from ted?

From what i understood

the return of 320 eow a/c was planned in the bk2. It was cheaper to return the eow a/c and then equip the non eow as eow...........the leases were more expensive on the eow a/c.....but thats a company statement by old mgmt so they say if there lips are moving they are telling lies............

Assuming that the aircraft return schedule hasn't changed from the last the company put out, these aircraft are scheduled for return this month:

116US
120US
707UW
---
384US
396US
524AU

Jim

ps - Dec returns:

373US
391US
395US
397US
563US
442US

Not a specific list of returns, but the fleet plan showing return dates is part of the ALPA transition agreement available on the ALPA site or the filing with the BK court. I've been trying to find the BK filing (the T/A is an exhibit to a filing) but haven't yet. I'll try again. Off the top of my head, there are another 6 737's scheduled for return in Jan.

Jim,
Interesting info. I would like to buy you a beer one day after all this merger stuff is settled and hear some Chip stories. That guy is pure entertainment-- Vegas lounge act style.

We have several AWA Airbus 320s being returned also. 670, 638, 639 for starters. Some 737s are leaving soon too....335, and 324-328 I think.

Eric,

You'd probably know, or at least have an idea. My understanding is that the returns due to lease expirations on the West side are being offset by new deliveries, though I have heard that the fleet on your side might be one or two less than contained in the fleet forecast attached to the transition agreement.

Can you shed any light on the West situation?

Jim

ps - to add to the list in the earlier post...

Jan returns:
300AU
354US
355US
356US
393US
394US
575US
(OK, I was off 1...)

Feb returns:
352US
353US
375US
383US

BB,

Wasn't some of these a/c just "out of service" and now back in service? Or are these actual returns scheduled back to the lessors?

These are the returns - I think at this point back to GE only, although they may be acting as trustee for other investors on some of them.

There was a reduction of 1 757 in the Aug/Sep pilot bid that USA320 said was due to the plane being off the line for heavy maintenance, but it didn't come back on the Nov/Dec bid. That could be due to rotating 757's through heavy maintenance - someone on the maintenance side would know.

Any EOW aircraft that is being returned has the EOW equipment taken off and then put on a non-EOW aircraft. The airplanes are not being returned with the EOW equipment. I don't believe there is a difference in the lease payments on EOW and non-EOW aircraft.

Does that include the dual HF Radios?
