Airline Stocks: Where Value Investing Takes Flight

I have to admit, I've looked at airline stocks during this downturn....

BUT, it's still serious gambling, as opposed to "investing."

The real risk or gamble is "when will oil come back to a rational price" as much as anything.

The ONLY true, interesting "what will happen here" is "when fuel comes back down, will the airlines be able to keep their price increases in place and can they rationalize capacity."

If they can do those two things....I believe the airline business can be profitable and a much better environment for everyone.

Is there such a thing as "investing" in airline stocks? They are more "trading" (i.e. - gambling) stocks...especially with airlines teetering yet again at the brink of bankruptcy. I even sold my LUV stock because while it hasn't had the wild ride, it's been pretty stagnant for the past 7 years.
