ALPA MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE - May 20, 2007

This is Arnie Gentile with a US Airways MEC update for Sunday, May 20th, with one new item.

Item 1. MEC Chairman Jack Stephan recorded a Chairman’s Message yesterday that reminds our pilots that the MEC is singularly focused on righting the wrong of the Nicolau award. We fully understand the magnitude of the career destruction it would bring. As we stated before, we can ill afford to be spectators in the final demise of our careers. The leadership of ALPA, who want to “Take it Back,†needs to see the faces that belong to the US Airways story.

To assist in transportation on Monday, we will have buses making multiple runs from both IAD and DCA airports, starting 10:00am from IAD and 9:30am from DCA to the ALPA Herndon Offices located at; 535 Herndon Pkwy, Herndon, VA, 20170. The following is some pertinent information from “The Executive Council Event Information Flyer,†with some updates.

Arrival Level (mid level), far West end of terminal

DCA Airport bus to ALPA

See you in Herndon!

W.A.R. Item 516

Paragraph F2, Most pilots do not leave stress “on the ground.†Therefore, when more than usual difficulties are being experienced, a pilot should consider delaying flight until these difficulties are satisfactorily resolved.

Please remember we still have 1,469 pilots on furlough, 276 pilots have been recalled and on May 14th, the most junior seniority number was 4,437 with a seniority date of October 25, 1999.

What comes to mind as I read that quote is that the ALPA board will simply think, "so you are the guys that didn't meaningfully negotiate and don't like what happened".

Hey just a last minute heads up to the US pilots... there is no "C" in Amtrak. It should read www.amtrak.com.

I wish you all the best. US pilots are the best this industry has EVER seen, fight for what it yours and don't let the other's deter you.

Do you honestly think the majority of East pilot care if ALPA is sued?

Different parts of that group already have three law suits going against ALPA.

ALPA Nat won't pay the tab, YOU WILL

I happen to work for another ALPA carrier but I can promise you, I won't pay any assessment to help ALPA with legal bills.

The APA got sued at American, not the individual pilots. There is no way for the court to verify a sick call, or whether a maintenance write up is legitimate. The only thing the court can do is determine if there is an illegal work action being supported by the union.
