ALPA MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE -- September 20, 2005

This is Jack Stephan with a US Airways MEC update for Tuesday, September 20th, with four new items.

Item 1. In accordance with MEC resolution AI05-105a that was passed during last week's third quarter meeting, the MEC Chairman will be meeting with interested MDA pilots on Thursday, September 22nd from 3 to 5 p.m.

In attendance will be the MEC Communications Committee and Strike Prep Chairman, the Grievance Committee Chairman, and the Negotiating Committee Chairman (or their designee), and the US Airways MEC Contract Administrator.

The agenda, as stated in the resolution, includes:

1. Current issues of interest to the MDA pilots
2. The status of the ongoing MDA grievances
3. The need for further action by the MEC
4. The inappropriateness of unauthorized informational picketing

The MEC Chairman or his designee will report to the MEC as to the results of this meeting and the need for further MEC action as appropriate.

The meeting will be held at the Pittsburgh Crowne Plaza, located at 1160 Thorn Run Road in Coraopolis, PA. The telephone number for transportation information to the hotel is 412-262-2400. All interested US Airways pilots are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Item 2. Captain Lyle Hogg's response to MEC Chairman Bill Pollock on the status of certain MDA issues has been posted on the pilots only home page under "What's New. Captain Hogg's update includes information on how many pilots have accepted Captain positions at Republic Airlines, how many Captain and First Officer positions will be offered to MDA pilots, and an update on the MDA furloughs that were announced last week.
Item 3. A compilation of the MEC's regular third quarter meeting actions has now been posted on the pilots only home page under "What's New."

Item 4. The Polar Air Cargo pilots have been on strike since September 16th in an effort to gain a fair and equitable contract. MEC Chairman Bill Pollock and the US Airways Jumpseat Committee would like to remind all US Airways pilots they are authorized to provide jumpseat privileges to striking Polar Air Cargo crewmembers. Please continue to extend every courtesy to the Polar Air Cargo pilots to facilitate returning them to their home or domicile.

Please remember we now have 1,574 pilots on furlough with approximately 400 pilots currently working at MDA or Jets For Jobs carriers.
