I would like to know what pilots of UAL think of their ALPA representation. Your are the lowest paid in the industry. How do you feel about this?

Is this just the swing of the pendulum of this business or the dawn of new tactics. I think United Pilots Association would be very powerful.

Comments from line pilots please.

United Pilots Association web site.

FLAME BAIT!

First check your facts, UAL is NOT the lowest paid in the industry (and our CFO likes to remind us of that). ALPA got me the $550 million bond, the stock allocation and 16% in defined contribution retirement plans. ALPA will fight to keep my medical, and look out for my interests if I'm ever involved in an incident. I VOTE for MY ALPA reps, and they do what I ask them to. If they don't, I vote for someone else. If I don't like what they do, it's my own fault.

I'll take ALPA over some pretend company "we're having a hissy fit" outfit any day.

But please, I encourage any company who thinks they can do better elsewhere to LEAVE. the sooner the better.

What about your lost pension. This is not flame bait just dialog. Do you not think that you could of done just as well during your bankruptcy negations on your own. Thank you for your comments.

I will add a link to the pay of legacy airline carriers. I think with your own pilot union, you could do better. If your pay goes up so does everyone else.

Major Airline Pilot Pay, American and Southwest make the most and they do not belong to ALPA

FLAME BAIT indeed!

First off, what business is it of yours what happens at UAL, and why are you pushing UPA (which for the most part has gone silent due to lack of interest- they can't even get resolutions passed here in DC which is their home turf). Aren't you UsAirways East?

As far as the facts, yes, for now, we are near the bottom of our peer group. But it wasn't so long ago that we were at the top. Were you singing the praises of ALPA then?

The one thing in common is that all of your "top paying" companies have not been thru a Bankruptcy. And I don't believe that it was ALPA's fault at any airline for our respective company's trip thru Chapter 11. So this down cycle will be followed by an up one as contracts come up for renewal. Will we get back to out top position? I don't know, but we sure are trying.

Losing the pension sucks and will for the rest of our careers. The sad part is the laws that allowed it to happen. But remind me again what pension SWA has?

And ALPA has a much better system in place to defend or support an individual pilot than any new startup in house union could possibly have. I don't feel like taking a chance with my career until a new organization might someday have the funds to do the same things. "Oh sorry, we don't have a medical department yet" or "Ummm our legal team isn't ready to defend you in the flight office" Not once have I ever had a problem getting hold of my reps, or the MEC office for support when it comes to contractual or medical or legal issues.

Any union is only as good as those that participate in it (or not). So if you are unhappy with ALPA, take a look in the mirror because its your own fault.

Leave the thread alone guys. If you don't take the bait it will die.

"First off, what business is it of yours what happens at UAL."

Comments please about the above quote. Is he wrong or right? There is only one answer. A failure to answer by you is akin to refusing a Breathalyzer's test.

Congrats on becomming the first person on my "ignore" list

"I've learned.... that to ignore the facts does not change the facts."
Andy Rooney

You hypocrites come on the Usairways boards and vomit your selfish opinions. I would like to hear from other less addicted pilots to the message board opinions about ALPA.

My question is that United is the lowest paid airline for pilots. See earlier links to pay web sites. United has no pension. What has ALPA done for you lately?

American Airlines is not part of ALPA, the company and pay has been robust. Southwest Airlines is not part of ALPA, the company and pay has been robust. American Trans Air, United Parcel Service are not Part of ALPA but they are paid more or just as well as United Pilots.

I think you are being intimidated illegally, if you are threatened when you talk of leaving ALPA, let us know we will protect you.
