American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Did anyone in particular say they were or weren’t showing up? Who is it specifically you want to see a picture of? Sito Pantoja, Tom Regan, Tim Klima or Mike Klemm? Charlie Brown or P. Rez perhaps? Racer X? Tim (Kook) Nelson?

Again IAM doesn’t have many peeps working in DFW.
i know this is hard to follow but try, we are protesting against american airlines in not sitting down to negotiate. we are also protesting in support of our negotiating committee. when is our FULL NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE GOING TO SUPPORT US? the full negotiating committee should be at every protest or make an effort to be at every protest. so if the ones you listed above are on the negotiation committee then yes i expect them there, it is there benefits on the chopping block.
let me help a little more. no they will not be there, they will be M-I-A again.
you know why? because they dont give a ****.

The problem with what American has done Al is they used in the area of 12 billion dollars to buy back their own stock. Might even be more. And looking at the stock it has investors bailing which shows a lack of confidence in mgmt. They did not make anything off this, they did it for the shareholders. And now it looks foolish with the stock tanking. They better have good earnings. Even with low interest on what they owe, the amount is so large and now fuel is up so their strategy is looking weak to say the least.

they should have been making hay the past week or so, buying back shares with the stock in the low $30s. in fact, they may have been the buyers that halted the stock from going under $30/share.

again, i have no clue at what amount of shares outstanding aa will be happy with. if they stop at 400 million shares outstanding, aa matching dl's dividend would cost the company $560 million a year, much less than what delta pays on it's 680 million shares outstanding.

long term, it's great for the shareholders. the problem i have is that aa's toggle switch between shareholder x employee is too, too much toward the shareholders.

united's earnings were crucial. just as delta said, jet fuel spikes have been passed along to the flying public. if oil does go down $5-$6 dollars/bbl (down today $2 to under $70/bbl), look for the airlines to keep the fares as they are and we'll be back to billion dollar quarters.

i realize that some here were really worried, but i believe it was to make the assoc. look even worse and capitalize on the situation of: no contract + higher oil = 'i should be in charge of negotiations'.

I don’t recall ever saying that you’re broke?
I do recall you perhaps indicating another poster was broke. Maybe it was 700 intially, but it's the same poster that calims to be a millionaire...
Could this be a case of a Freudian Slip, between two separate avatars, that share the same DNA?

Maybe its me but i would think an effort at unity would be long overdue.... by the iam. But hey since you know all these guys personally feel free to pass on the message.

Just an observation Weazz, I think some of the mechanics have, what we had at SWA when we kicked the Teamsters out. Our problems are with the Union that represents us, just like the American guys want the Association gone. In the end if you get a new union, it is still the same problems with management. AMFA had it easy at SWA until our pay is with the other majors, then it gets hard, when you want over $50 an hour, but you want no scope changes. Regardless which union represents American, management will want the same things. There is no magic bullet.
True but at least we get rid of the Association and the we run our union with our group of guys in title 1 and 2. Fleet service can contine to run the association as they do now. We don't need a inflated international payroll and the afl-cio taking our money. We are just tired of having other groups telling us what's best for us let us make our choices and our mistakes.

I read you loud and clear. You want all hands on deck. I agree 100% that the Executive Negotiating Committee should be in appearance.

Personally I’d like to see a protest occur in CLT, PHX and PHL all on the same day on the IAM side.

It’s not you. And the guys I do know I have passed it on to.

And to be honest again the IAM knows exactly what we think about them not joining in.

I just don’t like to harp on it myself. (That’s me)

And what is their plan to change that perception? Are they so sure of their position that they dont care what we think?

I think that would be a great idea. While I'm not a fan of the picketing, having a system wide picket system set up both by the IAM and TWU would at least take away the no member or not enough member excuse.

Not going to happen. If you can find 20 fleet service from CLT who care enough about the Association then maybe but any pickets in CLT will have to be very heavy with Pilots and maybe some MX. And although me and others picketed in ORD at Wrigley, the turnout won't be as strong although the Local leadership here is clearly SOLID. People are just tired of the bullcrap.

Honestly dfw gen there are a ton of phone numbers for the IAM Reps on both the IAM 141 and 142 websites. You really should just call some of these people and ask them directly yourself.

Just picking up the phone and calling people is how I got to know all the people I know now.

I don’t think Airline Forums is going to get you through to what you want IMO.

Our TWU Brothers and Sisters have been in contract negotiations with American for nearly 3 years. TWU has shown their strong support at APFA's WAAKE UP AMERICAN Picket at Centreport - DFW in August, and will continue their support in joining APFA System-Wide Base Airport picketing, November 18th.

Why not picket headquarters on the 25th during earnings?

Very cool that APFA left IAM logo off but included TWU.

I guess after the mess of TWA and the aftermath the IAM imposed on them.

APFA fought for their members interests during the SLI, as did the TWU.

Nobody supports the IAM, not even the stew union. It was intentional.
