That part will definitely become illegal in our contract, if that federal law changed. That is 100%. But the HR bill would have to be passed in the Senate where a filibuster would be certain to doom it unless the Dems can't put a lid on Waters and lose big in mid terms. A more likely path imo would be the court system where I'm guessing the lawyers already have RLA cases initiated or ready to load.

How many TWU members are working for the federal government? I believe Janus just affected federal employees, yes? As opposed to municipal.

The IAM has about 20,000 Governmental, including 4,000 from the NFFE. Not sure how that affects our huge NASA group and other federal agency groups.
Tim what does this ruling do to Weez's IAM gig?

Any gig in FLL is confirmed by virtue that they only have 25% of the cards signed. The IAM is duty bound to spend 2% of its total or about $3 million a year on organizing based on its AFLCIO agreement. Sito has decided to blow that money in his district. I mean, they already know Delta is dead as they come, even the stews, until AFA is allowed to organize in 15 months. And JetBlue was never intended to win. They been blowing the organizing budget on it to satisfy AFLCIO stipulations.

Sadly, you have anti unionist on this page now, and previously with 700, that are just in it for the money or time off.

Do you have a reason to be more of a nice fellow today than usual Al? Just like to bother people as a way of making only yourself laugh?

I’d ask you nicely to stop but that normally only eggs you on even more.

I would think Jetblue an easy sell all their other work groups are organizing and protection from an inevitable merger down the road (Alaska)

Won't be surprised if the National Right to Work Bill currently in Congress gets fast tracked along with the nomination and appointment of a new SCOTUS Judge so they can those items in before a potential loss of one of the chambers in Congress during the mid-terms.

Labor better change the way they operate, if not, the danger won't be card drives but treasuries drying up and union consolidations to combat that inevitability.

Unions are going have to CHANGE. They now have no choice now. AFL-CIO; IBT; & SEIU will have to change now. No more fat paychecks for union officials. (The cash won't be coming in, so no fat vacations; nepotism and dinners. No more politicians pockets to fill as well.) Leaders and members will have to get back to on-the-ground organizing and telling/selling members why a Union is needed in your workplace. And how and why you need a contract. And trying to get that contract which is beneficial to all parties. Of course, the anti-union forces, emboldened with this decision will be working in full force trying to tell you why you don't need a Union. Unions will have to get creative and resourceful with much limited resources (who are you going to lobby now?). Otherwise people will be in deep @##$, because you will be now forced to sign an arbitration agreement (which the SC approved a couple of weeks ago) to get any job now without the power of collective bargaining. And wage theft is prevalent now. Working more hours for less. I myself know that I would not want to be working without a union in this or any industry (my 2nd job is a Union job as well). Even though the IAM and the District has its problems, I have seen the Local Lodge fight for people's jobs. And won. People may ***** and moan about a union (especially people on my side of the house since we didn't have one previously), I know that things would not be as well without one. When the cuts came years ago, all of the Unionized groups on property got their get backs faster than we did. Ours was much slower, because we weren't represented.

What bothers me now is what happens if "One Party Rule" takes hold? And what happens to Unions? Once gone, what happens next? Will our pay drastically drop? Will work rules be decimated? I have a lot of misgivings about the last few SC decisions this week. A lot of us is going to get hurt . We all aren't rich enough to be insulated from this nonsense. But this for for the "Water Cooler" and not this thread.

It is going to be many years of pain before a new renaissance of Union power comes back to fruition. If history is correct, Corporations will not do the right thing. And a lot of teachers (one of the reasons why this decision came about - their power was huge) hit the streets the last few weeks. So I see some hope............

I think the real danger is people that might actually be satisfied with their representation that just stop contributing anyway.

Teachers and nurses are leading the way. Funny how that works!

Look, we allowed this to happen, and it’s up to us to fix it. No one’s coming to save us.

If nobody pays no union you could lose everything why would anyone chance that for just a few bucks thats why I think everyone is overreacting. Could could could but doubtful

Maybe one huge Association can be formed for mankind and we can scare the hell out of the Coporate world...Call it TPFL...The Planet for Labor.

It might not even be intentional. If you’ve always had dues check off, getting in the habit of paying every month might take a little while.

AA Weez is mad at me now so ill ask you this stupid obnoxious dick question will the workers who opt out of paying dues still get their yearly pocket calendars from the union?
