He doesn't know what happens because he doesn't go to union meetings, but it was disclosed. Twice.

All the stipends were adjusted, but he just chooses to focus on one.

That’s not the point of the conversation or the question you were asked.

Honesty is the BEST policy always NYer.

Give Al his answer.

Maybe I am one of those (self-described) high-minded persons, but I do not think people object to paying for value, especially when there is a truly representative union for all and bounded by ethics-- and therein lies the problem.

i thought the janus decision dealt with non-union employees in the public sector?

we are union employees in the private sector, are we not?

It deals with public sector employees, but by that door being opened by the SCOTUS it also makes it easier to pass a National Right to Work law, of which there is a bill in Congress to do exactly that.

i understand, but even while the previous law was the law of the land; right to work was still gaining traction.

janus decision or not, i'd still believe the repubs would be jumping up and down for a national right to work law.

the danger is that this isn't a half-hearted push for votes (english as an official language, flag-burning a crime)...these guys roll up their sleeves for their core constituency.

NRTW has stalled recently and mostly brebaje of legal challenges. This decision opens the door to continue to expand what's already need decided by SCOTUS.

I have seen guys do half of that in a quarter... and they pretty much lived at the airport.

Yea but I think it would be more fun making it 9 to 5 (or earlier even some days) and being off on the Weekends and Holidays.

But now that’s $31,000 on TOP of his $70k BASE FYI. (6 Figures BTW)

How many do you think would opt out Im no union fan but even I wouldnt opt out given the opportunity I might threaten but....
Usually 30% opt out immediately and stick the $850 in their pocket but the union still has to represent them. Since Airline unions like the IAM and TWU have mostly disassociated from their members by making decisions without consent (See Association), I'd think the number could be much higher.

As is, the Mechanics are now seeking to get the hell out of this Association mess.

I would think Jetblue an easy sell all their other work groups are organizing and protection from an inevitable merger down the road (Alaska)
Not much of a sell when they all know they will lose their jobs within 90 days of going IAM. The IAM has no history to suggest that they can change the quality of work life at JetBlue. The IAM realizes that, but they have to spend $4 million a year on organizing to satisfy AFLCIO stipulations. And JetBlue and Delta are the perfect fits for Sito to blow money and get people loyal to him by getting them gigs.
