Yup shouldnt get something without paying for it ,thats the part I dont get.

You should be ecstatic. I recall you being very proud to have voted for this monstrosity, which as many of us knew, would mean attacks on our contracts, our jobs, and our lives.

You should go throw a party. You sound like you might be close to retirement, but by all means go celebrate what is happening to all your brothers with less time whose careers are becoming less and less certain every day under this administration. Don't tell me you're having second thoughts now?

Even the friggin' Harley workers that are IAM, are getting the shaft! https://www.npr.org/2018/06/26/6234...-davidson-decision-to-move-some-work-overseas MAGA!

Apparently, only Weez and NY'er "Get It"...

For the rest of you that are saying the Janus decision will 'keep the unions honest' - You are either living in a fantasy world, or you are secretly on an anti-union mission. The fact is, this is only the beginning. There is no amount of "belt tightening" or newfound accountability that will prevent ALL organized labor groups from withering on the vine, and eventually dying . Nothing will be able to reverse this legislative assault -- Not reducing officer salaries, not trimming travel expenses, and certainly not banning contributions to political campaigns.

The Republican Party is currently in the best position in history to decimate their archenemy, organized labor. The GOP and the lobbyist that support them have been salivating for this scenario for decades. (Incidentally, AA is major contributer to the GOP https://skift.com/2014/09/04/american-airlines-top-airline-donor-to-political-campaigns-this-year/)

Repulicans currently have FULL control, from the POTUS, both wings of Congress, to the Supreme Court, and even majorities at the state levels. With this unprecedented absolute power, they can remain in control indefinitely by controlling the electorate. This was just made easier, as the SCOTUS also ruled in favor of gerrymandering, which will allow them to do just that. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/18/...ourt-wisconsin-maryland-gerrymander-vote.html

Gerrymandering allows the GOP to win state electorates in Congressional, and General elections, even without a voter majority. Basically, this means you can attempt to vote them out with a majority, but they will remain power anyway due to electoral rigging.

This means the labor laws, and organizing efforts that took decades for the American worker to achieve, can be erased in one, or two POTUS terms. Without Democratic majorities to keep this in check, it will most certainly transpire. As airline employees, the target is on our back. First, it was the Janus decision, next will be NRTA, then finally the RLA will be eliminated altogether. The end result is, we will eventually be employees at will without representation.

There is no doubt this will adversely affect not only these negotiations, but all others moving forward. The company will stall, bait, and wait, and then repeat...

Do you think this sounds far fetched? Think it can't happen? Remember, the legislative agenda is already in place. All they need are the majority in congressional wing votes, or another good ol' SCOTUS rubber stamp... just like the one today!

Please count me in as well. I am disgusted by the attacks on unions and my livelihood. There is not much we can do about SCOTUS, Trump can easily get a nominee through with the nuclear option in place before January even if we manage somehow to get the Senate back. I do think we will take the House back which should come in time to prevent RTW laws from passing and prevent any further anti-union assaults and unless the Democrats nominate another bad candidate our chances of winning the presidency should be good enough, especially with the damage trump is starting to do with tariffs. If the markets are at all time highs now, who kn ows what will happen.

It will extremely difficult to gain a house majority with gerrymandering in place. It will take an unprecedented voter turn-out to crush the rigged electorate.
It's possible, but not probable...

If you look at the House special elections, I would say it is probable. Ryan is retiring for a reason. The AL Senate race had special circumstances, but if Democrats can win a Senate Seat in AL, I would say the House is likely. I agree that trump's base will follow him off almost any cliff, but moderates are abandoning him. That is all we need to pick up enough seats.

Tell me what is your fear from this, will AA come down on us will the Republican party rape us? Or do you fear your fellow union workers tired of the unions B.S. opt out of paying dues.Who are they disgruntled with? Time for the unions to change their ways instead of arrogant reps ignoring the workers needs time for a different approach educate the workers the benefits of having representation. It appears the unions worst fears were brought upon by the union itself.Blame the unions and I will be voting for Trump again in 2020

Good thing H-D gave him a bike then, I guess.

(sarcasm, of course)

No one can stay home on election day!!

P.S. The Gerrymandering case in WI is down, but not out.

NO second thoughts,as far as me retiring I plan to work another 8 or 9 years God willing. But this reminds me of the beginning of deregulation of the airlines you should have heard the fear the workers expressed yes there was great pain but it took 40 years for it to settle and be complete same here, this will take decades, so I'm really not worried about it. This country is going to be 3rd world by then anyway its going to chit . If anyone is looking at the time of this post and why I'm up so late its because I ate a pound of cherries and I cant stop chitting and its not diarrhea either...amazing

ok, so i'm trying to figure this out:

- obviously, you're the only poster allowed to connect the political dots to labor dots to our contract dot.

- there are many other posters who understand where the republicans stand, they also don't understand why the democratic party is now the party of social issues of the perceived wronged and not so much the party of labor?

the media told me yesterday that the 'new face' of the democratic party is a 28 y/o woman who won a democratic primary in new york. what's her agenda?

- abolish immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) agency.

- erase student loan debt.

wow, i really feel like an a$$hole after i paid back my student loan in the 80's - with 1980's interest rates.

there are co-workers i know that feel like a$$holes after standing in line, following the rules and coughing up cash to become american citizens.

you blame gerrymandering for the GOP picking up house seats, senate seats in state and national elections? ok. keep blaming gerrymandering.

Democrats abandoned labor a long time ago. When a known Marxist wins a primary in New York, and is proud to be a Marxist, the Democrats are in trouble. If they nominate Crazy Bernie that wants to give all this Free stuff , Trump will win in 2020. The Unions will have to merge to survive, just like the Retailers did, and the Airlines. Unions will become a business like they already are, and it is will always be the best offer, and people will take it, and move on, because your ability to strike will be gone.

Gerrymandering GOT will GOP in office, and it will KEEP the GOP in office...
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/02/upshot/its-time-to-end-the-old-debate-over-gerrymandering.html

https://www.npr.org/2016/11/02/5001...residency-with-27-percent-of-the-popular-vote

In fact, in six out of the last seven Presidential Elections, the Democratic candidate has won the popular vote. This means if the will of the people (voting majority), had been accurately reflected, we would NOT have had a Republican President in office since 1993. That's 25 YEARS!

I'll bet if you were to have a gerrymandered electoral contract ratification procedure in place -- Maybe one that made it impossible for you to vote down an tentative agreement, in spite of member majorities, you would be cool with that as well...

Executive Negotiations this week being eerily quiet. Is everyone holding their collective breath? I wonder if they'll put out an update?
If as everyone says "Fleet is settled" then, IAMNPF and Medical must be agreed to? If the negotiations this week are dealing primarily with M&R, then all that's left is Scope?

Who has said that Fleet is settled? They “could” be settled since it seems the last group of Executive talks have been centered only on M&R? Fleet seems to be completely off the burner and been placed on a pot holder?

I don’t think you will hear that there is an AIP or a TA until the entire Negotiations teams are called in to look things over and have a vote.
