Key word *they*

*They* are not married to it because *they* have cushy grand lodge pensions and have earned six figure salaries for in some cases decades and any disciplind person making that amount of money for a sustained period of time should be able to live well below their means (particularly coming from compensation they lived off doing their day job) and have tens of millions saved through prudent savings and investment decision making.

Josh they can say what they want till the cows come home The powers that be want Sito to deliver the Iampf

I believe you heard it, but I doubt he would admit to anyone outside of the senior IAM people that he was pushing hard for the pension. The pension has been (rightfully) derided and rejected, in particular by the LAA, and by many within LUS, such that admitting he trying to foist it upon the membership would be akin to stating that cuts in staffing would be a primary objective within a new JCBA. If somehow the pension becomes part of the JCBA, the narrative will be spun that the pension provides "guaranteed" benefits over the life of the retiree, and positive aspects of the JBCA, but right now few want to hear any mention of being part of the IAM pension.
Yup you got it anyone who worked for US for any length of time knows it too.But these TWU...
.

Al you keep your IAMNPF i will keep my 401K. i have no interest in having a union control my retirement money especially the great IAM.

Aw c’mon Tim I miss my “funny” friend Al. I know this is you. You’re not funny at all. You’re totally boring man. Tim please give Al back his signin code and I promise we’ll let you at least look at the REAL TA when it comes out even if you can’t vote on it.

Please. I really want my good old funny friend Al back. Terrible, just terrible. Boring.

Wait until you see the anger in the rank and file when tim releases the company proposals and they see what Sito and Peterson have done.Perhaps the executive committee is waiting for when Isom takes over, for a contract yeah that must be it

best comment of the day. Racer is a Fing idiot or getting paid. Sito is forcing the pension and glass is saying NO.

About this "pension fund," it's not really a defined benefit pension from the employers' perspective; it's a defined contribution plan like a 401k, the management of which the workers have delegated to some fatcats in exchange for a "defined benefit" that can be reduced without a trip to bankruptcy court. The employer contributes a fixed amount per hour, making it a defined contribution plan, without giving the workers any of the upside generally possible with a defined contribution plan (the potential to invest well/prudently and possibly make for a more comfortable retirement).

Al hopefully AA will make them do like Alaska did and give a choice between IAMNPF and 401K.

Tim what do you think the GL would be willing to give up to keep IAMNPF for LUS and effectively force it on LAA?

Would they want to take over the frozen AA TWU plan?

Josh

Effective 10/1, they’ll start at $14.56/hr., with any increases based on how many hours they work, not years of service. In theory, if someone worked the max every year (1400 hours), they would top out at $31.04 after 10.5 years

ok...and if they hit the magical 1400 hour mark for the year, they also are entitled to insurance? or, regardless of hours worked, they get medical coverage?

profit sharing is the same for them? for example: say all at dl will get 15% of their previous year's income. so, 15% of their smaller yearly delta income? ready reserve guy earned $20k at delta last year, so, he'll get a profit sharing check of $3,000?
