I believe you heard it, but I doubt he would admit to anyone outside of the senior IAM people that he was pushing hard for the pension. The pension has been (rightfully) derided and rejected, in particular by the LAA, and by many within LUS, such that admitting he trying to foist it upon the membership would be akin to stating that cuts in staffing would be a primary objective within a new JCBA. If somehow the pension becomes part of the JCBA, the narrative will be spun that the pension provides "guaranteed" benefits over the life of the retiree, and positive aspects of the JBCA, but right now few want to hear any mention of being part of the IAM pension.
