AMFA blows TWU away...TWU is a company union, and then they try to act tough now, all of a sudden they're worried about losing dues...LMFAO
It's the same song it wouldn't matter what union you had. Management will pay the going rate of their competitors, or slightly above. Unless we are pilots which we are not. If their cost gets above what they want for their profit margins, they simply start contracting stuff out from maintenance , to ramp, to catering, ect. If you had your craft union, that you love, and you want more than they want to pay you, you simply sit, until stuff equalised.

It's not all about the pay, since 2003 we have the worst benefits of any airline...thanks TWU

I’m sorry but no. When I inquired about going for an A&P being told that I would lose at least 10 years of my life on Midnights was a MASSIVE deterrent.

If I had went to Trade School I would have taken up Heating and Refrigeration instead. They work during the day and many make more than you.

My Brother is a “Rigger” with his own Business. He earns around $350,000 per year. And he didn’t even graduate High School. (Airline Mechanics are cool but kind of on the lower end of skilled trades by Compensation frankly)

Actually the “Fight for $15” and rising Airport Minimums is making it more and more difficult for the Company to be able to easily replace us. But just like you guys the more we demand in wages, the more they want to try and replace us.

Can’t load a Flight from MIA to DFW out of a Hanger in Brazil though. Can send a plane there though.

TWU is an Acronym. I wasn’t crazy about the performance of the TWU people under the leadership of James Little quite honestly but I like the “people” working under the leadership of John Samuelsen.

BTW who’s A$$ do you kiss? The Company’s?

All the fight for $15 is going to do is lead to fewer jobs. Fewer wheelchair pushers will be staffed, those that retain jobs will be working harder to provide more productivity to justify the increase. Passenger service will suffer as a result.

You already see that with fast food and fast casual restaurants moving to ordering on touchscreens. These are low margin businesses and some people simply don’t contribute sufficient value to justify what they’re being paid.

Sorry, but WeAAz can belittle my PROFESSION and I cannot comment on his JOB.... LoL...another crony
you get too worked up with weez. He is our goofy don rickles on here and makes us laugh. Along the way, he was picked up for a future gig by Lehive to organize jetblue. Thats a lifetime gig since jetblue laughs at the iam. Trouble for weez is that Sito will stall for 3-5 years.

It's about negotiating for your class and craft or work group separately. The association denied us of that over greed for union dues.

i agree about the assoc. as a dysfunctional concept and a bizarre surrender by the twu to the iam. similar to the u.s. surrendering to japan in 1945.

assoc. or just twu or iam, you wouldn't be happy unless fleet and gse/fm are decoupled from AMT? that's how i take it.

even if that happened, i don't see how a 'amt only' union will compel the company to do this for you or that for you. corporate america laughs at unions after emasculating them through the decades.

now, if you had the major league baseball union in the room with you...chances are you'd get some good stuff. free buffets every day, no need to bring a lunch.

i can understand giving it a shot and trying. the theory that fleet holds you guys back monetarily only holds credence for me if aa competed with spirit and frontier. we don't, we compete with delta and united. they won't have an issue paying you, if they can eliminate x-amount of your o/h and component work?

Yes sir. Our mixed fleet is similar to what we had in the 80's and 90's.
Braniff 727's
Trans Caribbean 727's. I believe we had their 707's too.
Pan Am DC 10's
World DC 10's
AirCal 737's and BAE 146's
Morris Air MD80's
Then later on we picked up TWA's
767's, 757's, MD80's.

Today we have such a mix I'm not even going to figure it out.

fokkers? f-100s, the compromise RJ?

on jetnet, a pilot summed it very well talking about ord to asia, and aa surrending asia out of ord. hq wants all 787 out of ord for europe/asia. the 787 is woefully short compared to the 777 for freight. millions of dollars a year in lost revenues, as vasu makes jetnet videos telling us asia is a money loser. really? so why is japan going to double it flights to ord next summer if it's such a money loser?

america west runs the company now and luckily for us, we'll be long gone when these decisions catch up to the new aa.

When we went AMFA, one condition was to get the cleaners out of our contract as they were included in the pie for the mechanics.
Now that we are the majority it's better for both groups in the long run. Much more focus on the mechanics with a mechanics union representing us. Not a truckers union (teamsters) as we had before.

you got rid of cabin cleaners that were in your AMT union? ok...i thought that your F/As 'tidied up' between flights.

you say you are now the 'majority'? so, amfa represents southwest AMTs and who else with the company? who are the minority and do you blame whatever minority for the lack of an AMT deal?

Unfortunately again I have to agree and say at least outwardly the two sides don’t come across as if they’re on the same page and pushing towards the same goals.

More a Marriage of convenience rather than mutual trust and respect.

But I’ll still support both of them over the Company every day of the week. 🙂
Company = Association

TWU > IAM

Do you support the Association? Yes or No? Sorry, not good enough to say that you support the IAM and TWU when neither of them is the collective bargaining agent here.

Personally, I feel we would be much better off booting the Association. If that's the TWU then that's better than what we have. And there is a lot of support among the IAM to roll with the TWU as well, if needed.

It's not all about the pay, since 2003 we have the worst benefits of any airline...thanks TWU
Unfortunately your craft union will not get you any better than what Parker will pay in benefits.Unfortunately you work for one of the cheapest major airlines when it comes to taking care of their mechanics.

This idiot Swarat will never admit AMFA sucks. He sings their praises. In six years they gained us a raise, and kept our scope. Then torpedoed the deal while robbing our pockets of dues every month for zero results.

so, amfa's financial people don't feel the same pressure that others feel that trump will tank the economy and get what you can now? i guess the ups teamsters don't see the dark clouds either?

i see that argument lately. the economy is going to roll over and we'll have to take cuts.
