American looking to "right-size" the company and staffing levels for the Fall and 2021

Ya know, I couldn't agree more with that post. I listen all day to my right wing wacko coworkers spout their socialism rhetoric, meanwhile tRump is the biggest socialistic president we've ever had.

He has nationalized the airlines, and now we are once again been paid with government money.

I'm sure glad my tax dollars go to pay those unionized hypocrites over at southwest so they can come here and tell me how great they have it, and rub my nose in it. All with their big government pay checks.

Meanwhile back at the break room, I watch my government paid coworkers sit around for 7 1/2 hours with their feet up, watching TV, and then ***** when they have to pump oil in an engine once a week. Don't say anything. Someone might find out we don't have to actually do anything.

I'm sure the aviation gods over at southwest sure aren't this way.

Isn't America, I mean American, great? Don't even have to work and the government pays us. What a place !!

the good news is that now the Democrats are in office sit back and watch the next 4 years unfold. i almost think that trump was a democrat plant, he was able to single handedly lose the presidential election and then give away the senate! cant wait to Californicate America!

I usually file my taxes by the middle of Febuary just to get it out of the way. This year ill wait until April 14th. With our new welfare wage, The next round of Democrat stimulus we will probably not be eligable for. With our new welfare wage that puts YOU in the top 10% of wage earners, who do you think will be paying it back?

Oh boy; Here comes all the M&A talks. There's even a bold statement that the writer says he/she doesn't think that any of the big 4 airlines will go into BK. Not so sure that the big 4 would be allowed unless they could really prove it's needed to save one of the airlines and if it would benefit the travel public and the transportation system itself they may entertain with some heavy modifications forced to move forward. Also maybe allow a very small airline and ONE of the big 4, but I don't see two of the big 4 getting approvals to merge together.
The more popular airlines being suggested are United, JetBlue, Allegiant, Spirit, Frontier and Alaska were all brought up...

Something has to give, everytime i see Fauci on tv telling everyone to stay home i cringe. The traffic simply isnt there to support the 4. American before this mess was being critcized for its debt. The cut revenue by 75% and doubled their debt. This merger has worked out great so far... United is always the mess it always has been. Delta is quietly taking care of business, southwest is sourhwest their business model works as long as they stick to it. If things dont turn around by next summer, oh well its all speculation till its not

Interesting SWAMT. I read a similar article from Reuters yesterday that was saying AA could be most likely to merge but ironically didn't mention who or any others. I myself doubt merger but stranger things have occurred. AA was mentioned bec the debt was far higher than DL. UA n SW

I am thinking the big 4 will have major hurdles to jump over in order to get approved for a merger and probably so big that they will not follow thru with the merger of one of the big 4. Unless maybe, all 4 finds a partner that would allow all 4 about the same share as they currently have by allowing each of the smaller airlines to match up more equally to the big 4. but I would still say the smaller airlines may have a easier approval process just due to size.
Yes robbed, it was interesting to me too. That same article is still headlining in today's airline news online so we will see if other authors will jump on the bandwagon and keep stirring up the rumor mills...

Next summer will be the tell tail of the airline industry and your right, if things are not better by then, we will see some major changes and actions in the airline industry, I really hope we don't have to experience it. I'm still hoping for improvements to start earlier, like spring.

I agree.

The extension of the payroll protection does most likely help the airlines into the summer the real question is the new administration and what actions are they going to take in the next month or so.
We see how the UK and other European countries are going into strict lockdowns
I would not at all put it passed the senile senator from Delaware to do the same here. If that happens they won’t have a choice but to prop up the airlines again.
There goal is to allow as many people as possible to rely on the government in order to continue to hold power over them.
This is going to be a bumpy ride

Agree on the bumpy ride.
I constantly hear tidbits every so often that the Biden administration will pass another relief/assistance package after taking the helm seat. Also hearing that he is wanting to pass out 2K checks to folks. If they do pass another PSP program or packages is should be able to take the airlines thru the summer easily if not for the rest of 2021.
I have a feeling it's gonna be a disastrous outcome in the long run.

For a Republican you sure are looking forward to the Welfare bail out. Why none of you talking about what YOUR President just did. Trader to this Great Country.
