What's new

Another Rumor

we havent heard a thing, but we were told by the us station mgr that Doug Parker doesnt like outsourcing at all. But as far as for my city and MDT I doubt very highly that neither us nor MDT or anyone would get back to where it was prior. But may be it will happen

Today one of coworkers who is from SDF said his friend was told that we are getting the small stations back. Has anyone heard this ?
If this is true, it would be the greatest news for MANY people who lost their jobs in these stations.
At this point, all that we can do is continue to hope that it will someday become a reality.

US/East is still outsourcing res, the practice did not stop.

Hate to tell you this but Aeroman in San Salvador and Timco at various locations overhauls and modifies HP's current fleet. HP does not overhaul their own fleet, and some line maintenance is also scheduled nightly to be performed by vendors, not hp AMTs.

So now one on the West side believes in what you stated.

I have talked with some folks in low places in Tempe who say that the contracted ramp will be looked at in detail in the future on a station by station basis. Cost will be the determining factor. Based upon some preliminary numbers, it might be actual cheaper to have our own employees instead of a vendor. The people who would be making those decisions have some higher priority items they are working on, so don't expect anything soon.

Sure he wants to bring back the Employees. But since everyone has been out of work for over 90 Days, you come back as NEW HIRES.....

Based on what is in the transition agreement, employees who were furloughed in 2005 due to outsourcing can return wherever they fall in on the current scale. If you were at the top, you can now return to the same. I fully realize that this is not yet definite, but we can only hope that it stays that way. I assume that it will not take effect until 1/1/07 based on what is written at this time. Since none of the outsourced stations have returned to Mainline status, you must file a PE-66 to request a transfer to another location.

This is part of the contract that reads: pg 5, article 6

Following Operational Employee Integration, all USAIRWAYS employees who have been accepted work with HP/US under these provisions or who have been recalled to US after being on layoff for 60 days or more and are currently active and who were furloughed in calendar year 2005 from stations where FLEET SERVICE was outsourced, or who prior to accepting work with HP under these provisions had been on furlough from US for less than 60 days will receive applicable seniority for all benefits including vacation accrual and pay seniority equal to the combination of their HP and/or US service and will move to the US rates of pay and pay progression.

In addition all employees recalled from furlough after the operational integration who were out more than 60 days will return to the appropiate pay scale based on their US/HP seniority to the US payscale and pay progression.

tonight a saab 340 captain told me that he was told by a few rampers in ORF last week that they may go back to their seniority pay. all i got to say is lets wait and see what happens.

The company will have no choice but to bring the work once the transition agreement is completed.

HP outsources ALL their heavy checks and MODS, not part of them.

US has learned the hard way about how bad some of the vendors are and have brought work back in-house.

Is the best thing you can do is insult and attack?

You don't work for either US or HP, you are not a union member and do not know what our contracts are all about.

Well maybe spending money on cancellation fees would be better then losing millions of dollars in lost revenue from passengers.

If it comes down to cost vs. service, as everything does in the airline world of parasites making decisions only in their own interest. Expect more, not less, outsourcing on the ramp.

Excuse me, I have to puke.

Bought labor peace?

Dude, you really need to educate yourself, in 1992 all unionized employees gave concessions to keep the company afloat, as a matter of fact the IAM Mechanic and Related went on stike in October of 1992 to get a better deal instead of giving the company what they wanted, I would not call a strike labor peace.

The F/As almost went on strike on their last CBA before bankrupcty, Wolf threatened the pilots with no airbus order unless they accepted his terms.

It took four years of the IAM M&R to get a new CBA from 1995 till 1999 and the same for Fleet Service to get thier first contract.

The company decimated the non-union fleet and customer service in 1992, why do you think they unionized?

Just look at the airbus outsourcing, you call that labor peace?

You should really learn the labor history at US.

There has never been true labor peace.

Would you have US do??? Spend millions in contract cancellation fees to bring back the work from MNL and San Salvador in the next three minutes?

Short, selfish answer.... YES!. No, H*ll YES! 😛h34r:
They need to look at the cheapest, easiest way to get out of there asap. If I hear one more person tell me they couldnt understand the rez agent or the rez agent told me to come to the airport.... why are we paying them to tell people to come to the airport because they cant do a reservation?

Agreed. We know that Parker is salivating at the thought of shutting down the West field stations. He will announce the closures, have a sad look on his face, go home and get tipsy on Merlot, and sleep well with dreams of sugar plum fairies dancing in his head. -_-

From a management point of view the company should do some sort of damage cost vs labor cost savings study and bring back a couple of the troublesome stations, then determine if its worth it. From my own point of view as a furloughe
there are many other benefits other than cost.
