Furlough Committee Update
December 2, 2008

Fellow Pilots,
The vote on the Furloughed Pilot Insurance Assessment passed; we would like to thank everyone that voted yes. Essential Care Rx has been chosen to administer alternative health benefits and their web site is now available to you so that those that need it will be able to sign-up or check out the various options. Please note that Essential Care Rx is administering the plans they do not have anything to do with the assessment, billing of membership or the USAPA part of the program. Please check out the link below to find out more about the insurance plans.

The Essential Care Rx web site address is: http://usairlinepilotsassoc.essentialcarerx.com

Furloughed Pilots MUST BE IN GOOD STANDING before their date of furlough. (I guess they didn't want to cover the west because 98 guys are on furlough prior to December 2nd. Was there a mention of this little detail in the 5 furlough committee updates to the west pilots? Nope!)

What little detail? That they had to be in good standing? How stupid would they have to be to pay a benefit to someone not in good standing?

It's a sham! The furloughee pays for the insurance up front and files a expense report with usapa for reimbursement (yeah right). I just don't trust anything they do or say.

Well then, don't bother sending in the expense report. No one is forcing you to deal with people you don't trust. Good luck with the job hunt.

i feel really bad for you furloughed guys , my heart goes out to ya ... best wishes to all of you .

Are you going to feel bad and allow your heart to go out to your fellow ramp workers who get furloughed when their stations close?

Let me get this straight...along with all the other self-absorbed entitlements the west has offered that they deserve, now active pilots in the union (that has few if any paying west members) should be expected to foot the bill for insurance for FUR west pilots not in good standing?...And likely not even members of said union?

Am I getting you right?

What kind of %&#* are you to think thats acceptable?

Just when I think I've heard it all...

You need more therapy ( I hear lots of you are getting it over this...good luck with that...)

Yeah I'd like some holiday cheer - I just woke up from a nightmare, it's 2004, and the merger never happened.

Have you seen the latest pax counts in PHX ?

Off by almost a million year over year. The only reason we all have jobs is because of the merger.

My point is that the furlough committee, (the one looking out for the furloughed pilot interests and not part of the membership committee btw) did not inform the furloughed pilots in 5 updates nor did they fight on there behalf since furloughed pilots were on the street prior to the insurance deal (no chance to be in good standing) and the pilots were not even approved for membership at the time of furlough. Paying dues and being current to get this benefit goes with out saying I believe. But the furlough committee did not represent the pilots thoroughly or properly in my opinion. The FC was just another political arm of USAPA and did not provide a helping hand to your pilot brothers and sisters in there time of need but turned there backs all for the cause of the Bradford thugs. In the end, another possible DFR example for the judge.

OK...I'll bite. Tell us, since you are clinging to yet another DFR claim here, when did USAPA get voted in as the CBA...?

IF...and when did these affected west pilots properly apply to become members of USAPA?

Since I can't answer those questions, I'll toss this back at you: my guess is they have been staunch supporters and financial "members/contributors" to AOL and/or AWAPPA...rather than bona-fide members of USAPA.

There is your answer.

Their allegiance to the "union within a union"...or "red lanyard club" and not USAPA left them furloughed in bad standing or even non-members at the time of their furlough.

And there is the end of your DFR claim.

(you guys are amazingly naive about this)

The question here is, did the furlough committee provide appropriate advice and guidance to do everything they could for the pilots they are suppose to help? The answer is clearly no.

Obviously, you are not aware how stupid your position is. I'll try to help you understand.

USAPA could have obtained a pen and application form and filled it out for them to be members.

USAPA could have tried to prevent them from "joining" AWAPPA/AOL instead of USAPA.

USAPA could have put them up in a safe-house to prevent harrassment from west pilots.

OR, those pilots could have chosen to join the union from day one, and would then be entitled to even consider whether or not USAPA has represented them fairly.

But, alas, we ALL know what happened, there's plenty of documentation to illustrate the west opposition and recommendations AGAINST joining the union OR paying dues...until quite recently, whereby (once again) the west strategy has changed, and now they have seen the position they have put all you pilots in by almost a year of ANTI-USAPA dialogue.

Tell you what, go ahead, PLEASE include this as a DFR issue about FUR pilots and their lack of eligibility for insurance while they were OPENLY rejecting the entire union for almost a year...
