This dosen't sound right, but the rumor is that the IAM would take a big "fee" of the profit sharing $$ off the top BEFORE membership gets their distribution. Can anyone elaborate or refute this?

That would be illegal the union cannot take money from the profit sharing before it goes to the membership. The union is not entilted to any of the money.

The language in the CBA is quite clear on its distribution.

Sounds like a BS rumor to spread hate and discontent to me.
