The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) is accepting entries for the 2006 Max Karant Awards for Excellence in General Aviation Journalism. Now in its 17th year, the competition recognizes fair, insightful, and accurate reporting on general aviation (non-scheduled, non-military, civil aviation) in four categories: print, television -- news or short feature, television -- program length, and radio.

News stories published or broadcast between January 1, 2005, and December 31, 2005, are eligible for the 2006 competition. A panel of aviation and media professionals will judge entries. There is no entry fee. All entries must be postmarked by April 15, 2006.

An honorarium of $1,000 per category is provided to winners, along with airfare and accommodations to attend the awards presentation. This year, the awards will be presented on November 9, 2006, at the opening luncheon of AOPA Expo in Palm Springs, California.
