Could there be some kind of talks with DL/NW or Sun Country? That's kind of an out of the way place for Arpey to go just to visit..

The answer might lie in examing UA flight records to see which UA execs also traveled to MSP the other day. 😉

No way would Arpey fly to ORD to talk to UA execs in Chicago; if he did, there's no way he could have kept it quiet. But MSP? Brilliant!

Keep dreaming...

reschedule for MAYO, after UHC ok procedure. After K. Lewis departure, BAC has a position available.

Its only a dream for Usair.

Maybe, but i hardly douby USAIR employees want to deal with AMR employees, if they did, I would assume they would reccomend giving all TWA people their original seniority kind of like they did with the Eastern folks at TRUMP SHUTTLE, that would really light a fire under you wouldn't it? I hate to tell you, but the folks at USAIR have a thicker skin than you ever will, be careful what protrudes from your mouth as it may whip right around and slap you in your face.

Remember when UAL was projected to be "the airline" to work for, then American... Now, I am sure most would LUV to be at SWA, yes the same airline that most made fun of, just like you present a superiority that AMR would be a goldmine for others, but in reality this shows your unwillingness to admit the fragile state of your airline and most other airlines in the industry - It's not what it used to be, and neither is your company, get over it!!

I am so tired of the aurgument about TWA'ers being dovetailed. It's a none issue. They didn't merge with us, they were saved by us. It was our way or the street. They actually got more than they probably should have. And before the TWA'ers go off, if the stituation was reversed most all would feel the same way.

I will agree we are fragile, mainly due to the poor management we are under. Management will run this airline into the ground, not any of the unions on property.

One of the two airlines that was not forced in to bankruptcy. An airline ending the quarter with with 4 billion cash on hand and several billion more to draw on if needed. I would say this airline has a strong financial and management team.

Actually the official written testimony of J. Ward - APFA - and AA to Congress very clearly labeled it a merger. The documents were titled MERGER. Its official; get over it.

Actually, Jeff Brundage, an AA vice president, testified before a congressional committee on this matter when he stated; "It is important to note again that this was NOT a merger. As we began the ASSET ACQUISITION process, we had long standing obligations to our existing workforce of more than 100,000 employees, and to the contracts negotiated with their unions." (Caps mine).

This quote is in the second paragraph on page 2.

A merger is when one company acquires another's stock (either with cash or stock). When this is done the acquiring company also inherits ALL the debts and obligations (including unions contracts as written). DL/NW was a merger as was DL/Western. Asset acquisitions are where one company just obtains the assets it wants for cash and some select liabilities, but is not required to take ALL liabilities (including union contracts). AA purchase of EAL' s Latin routes, DL purchase of Pan Am Europe routes and shuttle are 2 examples. And of course, AA's purchase of most (not all) of TWA's assets. AA took the assets it wanted in exchange for cash and some liabilities (aircraft leases, TWA retiree medical obligations- 18,000 people who never worked for 1 minute at AA) and what AA didn't want was left to rot in bankruptcy court (gate leases, some 767s and the TLV route).

TWAers like to refer to it as a merger because in their minds it justifies their attempted theft of nAAtive seniority. AA fulfilled it's obligation to the TWAers. It provided employment for them (at least an additional few years) gave them their TWA years for pay and benefits, and provided for a facilitator which the APA and APFA decided not to utilize which was well within their legal rights. AA could not just bow to your whims and willfully violate our contracts by giving the TWAers their TWA seniority. The AA unions, following their contracts and the instructions of their memberships, rightfully protected their members by not giving the TWAers their TWA seniority.
