You are dead wrong... I happen to like many of my F/A co-workers from TWA......
but the TWA people need to know their places in this company.... Accept it or move on.... It's the way it is.... Oh did you read Brundage's testimony... He's management btw

OMG.........."know their places", "accept it or move on" and "it's the way it is"?

Really now, how much more offensive can you get? Absolutely outrageous to think you deal with the public.

We were forced inside a BK court, and then stripped of pay and pension. You guys just handed it over.
What we gave up outside of bankruptcy is a pittance compared to what you lost inside bk. Yes, we lost pay, vacation, sick time, holiday pay. But you lost pay, work rules, scope, pensions, retiree medical, and your ESOP stock. Heavy overhaul was farmed out and many of your cities went from mainline to express as a result of a gutted pilot contract; the AA pilots' contract severely restricts 70 seat flying; at most it allows 50 70 seat RJs to be flown by Eagle. In another thread, you yourself were complaining about all of the express carriers replacing United mainline flights.

I'm sticking to my "he was there talking to Tilton at an airport conference room" speculation. 😀
I don't think the government would allow a AA/UA hookup. Even if they did, the combined debt would be enormous.

The TWA people need to know their places within the company? And exactly who are you to determine and dictate other people's places at AA? Accept it or move on? And who are you to dictate what others should accept? Maybe others do not accept injustice. Last I heard we live in a democracy not a dictatorship where others decide what beliefs they may accept or hold. It is not up to you, be very clear with that.
AA's unions' contracts have legally dictated the TWAers place at AA. Contractual law was followed. The TWAers have filed numerous lawsuits and lost; they had their day in court; justice was served. You need to get over it and move on.

Why not?

Hook up UA/AA, and immediately file for bankruptcy. UA is presently screwed with debt and so is AA. What better way to get to the top than get rid of it all at once?

With the new BK law (Oct. 2005), there were some protections (a very few) added for the workers' benefit - it may not be very bad at all for us.

Then again, all management has to do is buy a judge - it's not like that hasn't happened before.

No we also have better work rules. I wouldnt trade them for any other carrier. I see the difference is better pay, better work rules and pension that is still growing.

Now lets get back on topic. Why was Arpey in MSP?

PERFECT, you should just close negotiation talks right now since you have it all.. Just pick up that phone, and say, well Mr. Arpey, we have it SOOOO much better than all the rest, and I wouldn't trade it, I am sure he would welcome it.. Your like one of those girls that brings her boyfriend out and portrays a perfect relationship, but behind closed doors she wants to slit her wrists.

Why, is that how AFA would do it? Just because the AA FA's still have a pension better work rules and pay, doesnt mean they should not try to do even better.

Lets try to get back on topic. If you want to discuss negotiations I suggest you start a new thread, not hijack this one.

No, not at all. AFAs not perfect, but then again neither is APFA. if flight attendants were smart [big if] they would form and merge unions and create a SINGLE contract, that way they have more bargaining power with their respective companies - not each other.. IF DL-US-AA-UA-SWA- etc., worked under one contract and bargained for their pay and work rules together, we would all be better off, and then you could strike when negotiating. But alas, people like yourself, stick up for their companies rather than their profession, and that is why you work more hours for less pay.. Flight Attendants are way to emotional and passive, I could care less what my company is called, and so should you. Arpey was probably shopping at M of A spending your money. Don't fret too much.

Yes yes and yes.... I came in at the bottom and worked my way up ....
And I deal with the public very well.... My pax leave the airplane very happy. I go above and beyond on every flight. That's the American way......
Also I'm very well like by my co-workers.....

well, it is the reality.. It is obvious that the philosophy is NOT, " treat others as you wish to be treated ". The only thing that I would say is - "Don't cry when it happens to you"...........

Once again, discuss the issues, not each other. These are public bulletin boards. No one, other than a moderator, is to tell another member where or what they can or can not post. If you have nothing further to say on the subject other than to attack each other, the thread will be closed.

As an "outsider," I have read this forum for some time. The hypocrisy in every one of L1011 Ret's posts is almost comical. He accuses others of doing what he does himself constantly. Nobody else is entitled to an opinion and only he is allowed to make snide remarks.

Typical petulant old man.

I frequently disagree with posters that is true, but no where have I said others are not entitled to their opinions or beliefs. I certainly will challenge some posters but that is not saying they cannot have their opinions. I do take serious issue with a poster who assumes God like powers telling others what they can or cannot believe or what their role is in some corporate entity. that is downright scary.

Brundage's Testimony is the whole truth of what went down with the aquisition. No other airline was beating down the door to buy TWA... TWA approach AA and ask for a proposal. At the time it was either AA buys TWA and saves 20k jobs or TWA closes it's doors and all TWA emloyees would be on the street. TWA employees were given a great deal.
It's not AA's fault that the economy tanked... AA had to do what all the other airlines did... Downsize..
Now would it have been fair to place the AA employees on the street??

Your account has a number of historical inaccuracies. You are not worth arguing with and refuse to look at Ward;s writup of the merger in Skyliar. You should be grateful. There are about 80 TWA aircraft still at AA without which a lot of AA employees would no longer have jobs. TWA was not about to fold despite Brundridges testimony. The CEO of TWA testified differently.
