Atheism

Whether the force question is true or not is also unknown since there is no way to reproduce the origin. The idea also begs the question, how many times did it happen and fail? Why? I do not think that question can be answered. I do not believe a sentient being was behind the creation of our universe. I believe in randomness. It just happened. I think asking why the big bang happened is like asking why a rain drop landed in the specific place that it did. It just did. No rhyme or reason.

I do agree that the older I get the fewer answers there seem to be and the more questions that arise.

You hep to this kid?

Jake was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome, a mild form of autism, from an early age.

His parents were worried when he didn't talk until the age of two, suspecting he was educationally abnormal.

It was only as he began to grow up that they realised just how special his gift was.

He would fill up note pads of paper with drawings of complex geometrical shapes and calculations, before picking up felt tip pens and writing equations on windows.

By the age of three he was solving 5,000-piece puzzles and he even studied a state road map, reciting every highway and license plate prefix from memory.

By the age of eight he had left high school and was attending Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis advanced astrophysics classes.

Thinks confidently he can solve Einstein equations relating to the big bang and such. Saw this kid on a communist show at 5pm on a non approved network......kid is amazing to say the least.

Jacob Barnett

I have one fear and that is he will be sucked up and vanish into the gov't industrial complex for national defense. He's only a kid.....but.

A rain drop follows the laws of nature. These laws came into existence with the Big Bang. Even in the first few hundred million years the laws of nature which we are familiar with, such as the strong and weak forces, gravitation, quantum mechanics did not yet hold sway. In the argument between randomness and pattern, I lean toward pattern. Once you accept there is a pattern, that there is organization, it's not far to accepting that design has a role - sentient being or not.

You can't suspend the laws of physics, only the Constitution.

Perhaps. I think I agree with Dell if I read it correctly. The laws of physics were always there. We discovered them, we did not create them. I guess I lean toward random.

AH ha................who or what s created them then?

Who says natures laws have to be created? I propose that the laws of nature have existed for as long as nature has existed which is to say, forever. Gravity has always existed. That has been true since before man existed and will be true after man is gone. No one created that law of nature.

I think one of the biggest problem with theist is the inability or unwillingness to grasp the idea of infinity. I do not believe that there has to be a beginning. If you cannot create something out of nothing then there always had to be something. I believe that is a more logical supposition than to think something can be created out of nothing.

I do not understand how this applies to what we are discussing.

Here's one for you bible guys...

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife.

Exodus 21:7-11

I have a problem with this passage... It does not say what the best way to go about buying a slave girl is, just more about selling. Not very helpful there, god... Let's look up another...

"Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Yes, march against Babylon, the land of rebels, a land that I will judge! Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you," says the LORD Jeremiah 50:21-22

Pay no attention to that commandment about killing, right? Hmmmm... Let's see what else god helped out with...

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. While he was on his way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him. "Go up baldhead," they shouted, "go up baldhead!" The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two shebears came out of the woods and tore forty two of the children to pieces. 2 Kings 2:23-24

Sending two she - bears to tear people up... You know, I do believe that happened. Seems god likes that routine, with two she - bears; it certainly explains michelle bachman & sarah "bailin pailin" pretty nicely, doesn't it? Or were they not religious.

I wonder what else the book we're all supposed to be living by has to say about anything...

"God made bad people for the pleasure of punishing them." Proverbs 16:4

Phew... Good to know we're all created in the image of sadistic psychopath.

"Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it."
Malachi 2:3

Alright god, just because someone did that to you one time....

"You cannot be Jesus's disciple unless you hate your mother, father, and family" Luke 14:26

I'm guessing this is the part where we see that maybe the jews weren't so chosen after all?

"Men are holy if they stay away from women" I Samuel 21:4-5

I guess the christians have it all wrong then. Straight marriage seems to be the problem.

Those are more entertaining than anything else, but it's the overlying themes of the bible that destroy the whole concept. Command humans to be celibate before marriage... while knocking up a virgin. Almighty and omnipresent... but needs 10% of your cash... Demand that humans embrace forgiveness as a concept... while sending people to endure eternal hellfire for not having heard of his "omnipresent" self.

I have always wondered how any thinking person can take the bible or its collection of silly gods all that seriously. If that makes me an athiest, I guess that's the way it is. Better to be that than believe myself to be at the mercy of something all powerful and with the temperment of a spoiled five year old.

Just so we are clear. The currency and the pledge were all changed in the 1950's because we were scared of the Russians. Had nothing to do with the origin of the nation an had no basis in any legal document. By the way, does the fact that the pledge was written by a socialist and had no mention of god have any any impact on this discussion. I'm willing to bet that most of the people in this country are unaware of that little piece of trivia.

I believe at least some of that stuff is from the old testament and s such, is no longer relevant. There has been a revision printed since that came out. The new rules are in the New Testament. Not sure about who wrote the first one and if some of the part in question were a mistake or merely a transcription error. So far it seems they are sticking with the second version.

Christian Socialists are left wing right wing Christian's........today you'd probably call them Progressive Democrats.

Nukes..... perfected by a commie.....duh.

Man on the moon ala Nazi's.......duh.

Socialism/Progressives were abundant on either side of the 1900's.....
