When Palin trotted her kids up on stage as a symbol of family values she smacked a target on their foreheads at the same time. That was her choice. If you put meat in front of a tiger, the tiger will eat it.

Having a family photo is a bit different then trotting them up on stage and saying look at my family values.
Personally I think it is obscene for anyone to put their kids in the public eye. These Hollywood types that sell baby pics to the media. Palin put her kids out there as a media ploy and I think it was wrong. I also think what the media did to the Bush twins was wrong as well. As far as I can tell, the Bush's never used their kids for political gain. I seem to recall that one of them wrote book or something but that is different and still does not make them fair game. Criticize their writing skill or what ever but the attack articles are way over the line. What was done to Chelsea Clinton was BS as well. She was an awkward child. Most kids are but she has grown up to be a very attractive intelligent young woman.
We have a populace that eats this garbage up. The media is more than happy to feed them.
The thing with Palin I think was a bit different. The people used Palins kids s an example of her hypocrisy. 'Here you are preaching abstinence and your kid is knocked up'. Sure Bristol was irresponsible but that describes 90% of kids theses days. I did not read many articles at all that came own on Bristol her self. Had Palin adopted a more realistic approach about family planning, birth control and sex ed the whole thing could have been averted. Then again, the far right whack jobs would have eviscerated her and left her on the side of the road.
Anyone who went after Brisol crossed the line IMO. Using Bristol against Palin is fair game since she made 'values' and 'abstinence' an issue.

................First child when I was 17....Do the math. Back in the 80's. The point Palin was making was the opportunity avaliable to everyone who wants to succeed is there. Don't need govnt assistance( I did not). I succeded by leaps and bound. A few bumps along the way?? Of course. But, perservered, drive, and move forward!! Plus, family was always there. So, if family values are a bad thing to you.....tough.....get over your lack of it!

As for Palin and hr family values BS. She preached abstinence only. No sex ed as it promotes promiscuity. Apparently Bristol did not need sex ed to be promiscuous and get knocked up before she got married. Had Palin joined the 21'st century and conceded that abstinence, while preferred, is not always going to happen, sex ed and contraceptives is a good way too go, we would not be having this argument.
There are far to many kids having kids in this country. IIRC, the US has one of the highest teen birth rates in the world as far as 'western nations' are concerned.

That's not a title we should be proud of and it needs to be dealt with. The point Palin was trying to make was that if no one had sex then there would be no teen pregnancy issue. Well guess what. She probably had sex before marriage. Her daughter had sex before marriage. There are a lot of things that sound really nice. Then there is reality which does not always agree. Sex for humans is not solely for reproduction. Were that the case, the human male would be able to detect when a woman is in 'heat' and only have sex then. Not sure about you but I will have sex pretty much any time my wife will let me. Teen males are as horny as they come. The girls are horny as well. Telling them to 'looky but no touchy' is asinine on it's face. It did not work for you and won't work for a majority of the kids out there.
Palin trotted her kids out there as a family values example was BS. No one was talking about 'making on your own'. No one was talking about not needed assistance. People were talking about teen pregnancy and about how Bristol was the new poster child for the fact that 'just say no' does not work. Does not work for drugs, did not work for alcohol, and it does not work for sex.
As for bible thumping. Not to keep on a woman who has 'visions/hallucinations being VP but that's just a thing I have about people who are near the button. She was on Youtube talking like a fool to imaginary voices but the link was removed due to "terms violations". Quite funny really. I just want people to keep their religion to them selves and keep it out of politics. Is that so much to ask?
