Nope, I was asking a question. If you want UPS wages, you have to have UPS work rules.
Its simple, isnt it?
The fact is that the mechanic per aircraft ratio at UPS and SWA and Fed Ex hasnt changed much since 2000, wheras the same cant be said for the rest of us, even AA. what has changed dramatically is the percentage difference in pay between those carriers and the legacy carriers.
I would have to guess that Arpey's yearly bonus for a year that AA supposively lost money is larger than my expected salary for the next 20 years is not the middle.Gee, maybe both labor and management recognized long ago that the flexibility of their contracts and their business model depended on each other, and that they rose or sank together?...
AA's unions waste no time trying to choke the golden goose at the first dollar of profits, and management seems to waste no time taking care of their own needs first... Not sure how that's ever going to get fixed, but both sides need to meet in the middle if there's ever going to be a chance of that happening.
Just getting to the middle is going to take twenty years, the way these negotiations are going. I wonder what articles they will discuss, and NOT close out come Monday.I would have to guess that Arpey's yearly bonus for a year that AA supposively lost money is larger than my expected salary for the next 20 years is not the middle.

From the TWU/AA Negotiations Website..
The Company indicated they were working on Attachment 12.1 resulting in an expectation by the TWU Negotiating Committee Table Team, that the Company would have a response by February 7 on Articles 3, 11, 12 and 39.
As a reference, the non-economic Articles open needing resolution are Articles 1 (Scope), Article 3 (Hours of Work), Article 11 (Classifications and Qualifications), Article 12 (Promotions and Jobs to be Posted), Article 15 (Reduction in Force), Article 21 (Rotation of Shifts) and Article 39 (Physical Examination). Once those areas of discussion are exhausted or tentatively agreed to, we will then begin discussing economic Articles.
So anyone's guess really as to the progress of resolution on these articles. Then and only then will economic articles be discussed. It has taken nearly 4 years just to get non-economic articles addressed. How long does one expect to wait for economic issues considering 4 years for non-economic articles?"Keep giving them what they want and they have no reason to give us what we need.." To quote Bob Owens..
Could it be the company wants you to strike so they can lock you out and spin off overhaul? Line mechanics who return would be in better bargaining position then and your overhaul folks would have no "bumping" rights. Go for it!Not gonna happen, the ibt lets the companies farmout heavy to MROs all over the world.
So how many layoffs would that be and how much bumping?
Answer the questions, or did you not really think your ideas through?
typical management answer! If the MEMBERSHIP has any B$%LLS.....DO YOUR JOB!!!!!!! NO NEED TO STRIKE!When you guys go on strike, the company will be happy to lock you out, close the overhaul bases for a day and reopen them as a separate company. Then when you come back as Line or OH you will be negotiating separately. Good luck with the strike option!

Who says we all have to strike at the same time? Strike has to be an oiption but its not the only option. Uncertainty creates even more havoc.

A strike would be more of a suicidal move rather than something to wake up the company. If a stirke should happen to be called after a release, it will be with the company's blessings - Little and company are in the pocket of AMR and aren't in the habit of doing anything (except for handing out T-shirts with slogans/ballcaps) for those who pay dues to the TWU that would result in a positive outcome for the membership.
Remember the difference re: being physically on the property as opposed to being outside on the street. A CHAOS-type job action would be far more effective.
