While an alliance between the two (AA/BA) big kids on the block may have good consequences (for a while, at least), what would anyone reckon the chances of a strategic Chapter 11 filing by American would be and that such a filing (or threat of a filing) would be enough to prod Congress into raising the limit on foreign ownership of USA airlines from what it is now?

Goose,
Your inquiry has merit, especially under the ("soon to be DEPOSED") administration at "1600", but I think "it" would be a NON starter under the NEW occupants, who will arrive on 1/20/09 !
THANK GOD,
Also, Imagine the Addition of JAL and Qantas, to an AA/BA.
"That" would encompass the Whole World.............(hence..."ONE WORLD") !!!!!!!!!!!

More like "God forbid" your prophet gets elected.
You really think higher corporate income taxes and higher income taxes on us the working people, to fund Osamas, I mean Obamas wealth redistribution plan, is going to help the US economy?
The Washington crew will be back later on in the year and will still have to decide what happens with the DL/NWA merger plans and a few other things that those nasty democrats would get in the way of.
This may well be an issue for them to tackle while they're at it.
