I must have missed that one. My folks had first hand experience with the Hitler Youth as well as other aspects of Hitlers love of all things jewish. Seems to me that most comparisons to anything Hitler are beyond ignorant. There are very few things that can be compared to that. I'd better wake up? Have you read my posts? Do you remember what I have said about things like farm subsidies and defense spending? And I am well aware that changes will have to be made to things like Social Security and Medicare.

It seems you are the one you might have to wake up. Especially if you think the GOP is really serious about the debt. When they killed attempts to end $20 billion over the next ten years in oil subsidies that should clue you in. They say nothing about farm subsidies that have cost the USA $261 billion over the past fifteen years. You don't hear Paul Ryan calling for an end to farm subsidies do you?

What about defense spending? Mention that around most republicans and they go off the deep end about how we cannot afford to do so in a time of war blah, blah, blah. You would think if we cut one dime from the DOD budget our troops would be going into battle in t-shirts and jeans while carrying M-1 Garands. The truth is a lot of the spending has little to do with fighting groups like the Taliban. The USMC version of JSF is a good example. That program is billions over budget mainly due to problems with the F-35B. Does the DOD cut its loses and kill it, of course not.

Why don't you share some of Bachmann's accomplishments with the rest of the class. Any significant piece of legislation passed by her from either her time in congress or in the state senate will do.

Another thing you can do is look at her issues page on her Congressional website and compare it to another prominent Republican. Lets say Paul Ryan. Even if you don't agree with him you still have to admit he puts a bit more thought into the issues than Mrs. Bachman.

And that’s when it works at all.

I'd like to be surprised but the military procurement program is littered with crap like this. B-1, Sgt York, V-22 just to mention a few. There is no accountability on the part of the manufactures. No accountability for the military to ask for something they actually need. I know if someone gives me a quote on a project that is all they get paid.

There is such a colossul amount of waste in the system is straigns the imagination. INstead of determining what the simplest and most efficint way of solcving a problem will be, our folks have to think of the most complex way to get something done and then they wonder why it fails.

No accountability for the military to ask for something they actually need.

That's not necessarily the problem. In numerous casses the DOD has either tried to end a program or reduce the money spent on a program only to have Congress allocate money to it anyway.
