Tomorrow afternoon thru wednesday night the Northeast is expecting a significant amount of snow/ice/sleet. In normal talk, a bunch of crap.

With this being so imminent, why hasn't US issued a travel policy for changing flights? Are they not aware of this in Tempe? It would be of convienence to some people that they can deviate their plans instead of waiting till the last moment.

He is another way US is showing their ineptness.

got to agree with Piney on this one. 3 tv stations, 3 different predictions for pittsburgh, a coating, to 1 foot.

Not to openly defend the folks a way out west BUT the weather forecasters on the East Coast have made some huge blunders in predicting weather events in recent times. Who can forget the "Blizzard" that has ZERO inches of snowfall when 2 feet were predicted.
But the Storm Watch is issued by the NWS. Even if its a flop, the airline can have their staff prepared early instead on a sudden on slaught. For them announcing earlier that helps alot out. I understand the recent flops, and I have a name for the weatherman, a bu!!sh!t artist. He'd sell you Beachfront Property at the Everglades. Air Tran issued a weather bulletin several hours ago.

Right, but the customer friendly thing to do would be to issue a statement saying that, because of the weather predictions in the northeast, there will be no charge/fee for changing your travel itinerary from Tuesday, 2/13/07 through Thursday, 2/15/07. GET OUT IN FRONT OF THIS! Don't wait for a meltdown.

100% correct. The weather in the NYC area will be a mess. I worked in operations for many years

and believe me, systems control is now getting their information from the NWS and is making

plans that may include cx flts in order to keep the impact to the system to a mimimum.

As of 6:18 EST, a list of affected cities as long as your arm is now on the website. So it looks like they ARE out in front.
I only saw 6 cities on the list.

I found it unusual to list only cities listed that will be elligible for fee waiver.

Usually it,s a region that,s listed
On Delta Site
Advisory: There is a winter storm forecasted to impact travel in the North/Northeastern section of the United States. Customers traveling February 12–14 may experience delays or cancellations due to winter weather.

We are proactively canceling some flights in order to minimize the weather’s impact on operations. For information on your flight, check Flight Status below. For additional weather information, see weather.com.

At 6:35 web site updated to include most Northeast cities.

On a side note as a retired employee I havent been on the new web page, in a while I found

it very slow and confusing.

Ill agree too! If you are that concerned about possible weather conditions pay the fees and go early. There are weather issues on any given day and policies are in place on how to handle these situations. Unfortunately, mother nature changes her mind and weatherman can only predict up to a point. Im sure they are waiting for closer to zero hour for a more precise idea of what to expect. How many times have you heard a weatherman predict a 50 percent chance of rain? Airlines take a big hit during inclement weather so waiting can help mitigate the damages if the weather changes. Anyone traveling in the northeast this time of year should expect weather delays. I hear it snows but I wouldnt know as I live in Phx!

Systems Crew Scheduling altered my trip for tomorrow in a proactive weather realted move.

Good work!

It,s called Public Relations. All airlines do it.

something hp people know little of. And many flights are full and people can not book on

other flts to get out early if they wanted. Your post was insensitive and you show you

have no knowledge of Passenger service.

As Grandma used to say.....Malarkey!

Around 1500 this afternoon a mid-morning DCA-LGA-DCA Shuttle roundtrip for Tuesday morning was cancelled due to forecasted DCA weather. I would consider that pro-active !

A quote from a pervious thread about SHARES
"These would be things like waiving fees and not charging for things that should cost money without having to account for them"
A quote like this is an agents worst nightmare in the field. WE DO WHAT IT TAKES TO GET THE JOB
