Bad Weather Forecast In the Northeast

PIT seems to be doing okay, despite all the snow and being down two runways (10L/28R and 14/32 are closed).

That's basically one runway if the visibility drops. Maybe some of the US pilots here can comment--I think in about 500 trips from PIT in the late 90s and early 2000s, I might have departed or landed on 10C/28C about twice.

I'm kind of surprised they were not able to maintain 10L/28R and 10R/28L. Maybe the traffic volume no longer warrants it.

With the strong winds out of the east, I'd assume PIT has been using the 10's most of the day. Rwy 10C is the primary departures runway in east flow, but with 10L closed, it forces all arrivals onto 10R.

But you don't see 28C used all that often in west flow (anymore).

Could a person work without being on the clock? I thought insurance wouldn't allow something like that.

Good point, but.....

Not off the clock. Just, extra. Like when employees "helped out" the company with the bagagge problem a couple of years ago. Were they covered? What if PHXMAMA got injured when they came in on their off time (the computer fell on them)?

How could insurance prevent that other than to say they would not pay for injuries incurred during that time period? How would an insurance company find out if there were no injuries claimed?

Besides, insurance cannot say yeah or nae. They can only pay/not pay if a claim is made. Not that I know anything. Just curious and willing to ask questions.

When I left CLT tonight lots of stranded unhappy customers & lines miles long out of baggage........
I can imagine all the cancellations that occurred. The odd part that I see is that ALL 6 PHL-LAS flights flew today, none cancelled. I would think that at lesat 1 flight would have been cancelled, Tuesday is not a strong day going to LAS.
