What's new

Bell

Sorry, but I think I was part of the rumour mill that started the Firehawk Scandel. Paul Martin assured me I would be chief pilot when the Firehawks arrived. But now with my robbie time I can be the official cheif pilot of all those R22's. I would like to see them armed with water missles and then in the off season we can help the forces and put real missles on them. I am sure they could not be picked up by Iraqi radar!!!

Cheers

Somewhere on the learning curve, although it seems to be a downward trend lately.

Sounds like to me Bell needs some money to finish funding the 609 project. If they pumped out a bunch of 214's with a new enginge, I might actually be interested.

A nice new re-engined 205 interesting....maybe they can come up with a new 47 as well.

:elvis: :boff: :elvis:

As a post note to My last post I believe that there is a market for both A/C.

:elvis:   :elvis:

Hey Elvis or they can do what Eurocopter did, bastardise an EC120, B3, and Ec135 and come up with an EC130.

Bell makes a great product and from all accounts they have some nice looking products in the works. Their goal is to take back marketshare from EC and I wish them all the luck.

no matter how you look at it, the 120, 135, 130...they're all new. Bell may take back some of the market they lost, but don't expect anyone to back down and let them take it easily.

Mike: Your source that said it was just a rumour on the Firehawk is pulling just your leg I hope! It must be very easy to spend unaccounted time in that dept of the Gov. If you ask for a phone log I think you would find some calls to a certain
Helicopter company in Pensacola Fld. I think you might have their billing address to. There might be a few calls to the Manf of the helicopter and fire tanks along with them. As far as the 210 goes I think it is a great program should make the current 205 fleet worth alot more ! my employer is doing the dance of joy as we
type. The airframes Bell is talking about wouldnt be the same surplus UH1H aircraft they called junk a few year back I hope! Funny how times change. A company in Montana was working on this program a few years ago and Bell wrote a few papers on how they were undocumented ,unsafe ,aircraft that should not be released to the public. Funny A

Mawddawg - Bell actually have been working with a users group on the 210 for the past two years to make it all happen. It was going to be announced at Heli Expo last year but they decided to fine tune the product a lot more hence holding it over till 2004 Heli Expo. There are a number of operators who have already made commitments for the new toys.

Lets see what Heli Expo unveils. :hide:

Mawddog,

Yes you are right, they did call Brown Helicopter to see how much the asking price was. I failed to mention that. Once they found out that they were $8 million a piece that was where it ended, so I was told.

As far as the 210 goes, my understanding is that they are looking at using other companies' STCs that have been made to the 205 over the years, which is why certification should be fairly quick.

Also, one other rumor I heard yesterday from a good source - a Canadian operator (no idea who yet) is supposed to be inking a deal for 'several' A109E Powers at HAI. Anyone else heard this?

OMNR????

They seem to be the main focal point of the rumours lately, why not this one?

oh yeah, getting back to Bell's new baby.

This wasn't an aircraft that was 'chinese blueprinted' from the EC 120 they had for a few months was it? I'd hope they were able to come up with something new on their own.

Mr. MagSeal,

I do believe that you've spent an excessive amount of your spare time at the Eurocopter laboratories undergoing company-funded brainwashing. 😀

Hey Vert,
I Know of an Eastern Operator (who is growing fast) that was looking pretty hard at the 109"s last year. Possible Ski Machines.Nothing definite though.

Would it be possible to ski with a 109? No I don't think so, but a Koala 119 might work. The Koala looks like a nice unit. Is anyone else looking at a Koala?
Being a biased pro-Eurocopter guy that I am, I must say that the 5 seat market for
helicopters in Canada is sown up with the mighty old jetbox. Not even the EC 120 has made a dent against it and I think that Bell producing a 5ish seat fenestron-like aircraft will also have a hard time competing against it. I hope this new Bell light will look better than that silly JRX picture that has been circulating around.
Why doesn't Bell make a L4 with the C47 and a decent set of large heavy blades?
If they are upgrading the 205 to a 210 then up grade the 206 L4 to a 206 L47 HP.

My guess would be that a 206 L4 with a larger engine and wide chord blades would compete too closely with the 407.
