What's new

Bend over PDT.

Well D.P said in the Crew news on the 25th that he would like to get rid of the next 7 Dhc-8 100's today but they are still under contract till the fall.
This is very bad news for the flight Dept at PDT (EN). I guess Pdt will become a ground handling company.

Anyone know if Parkers comments about Piedmont can be limked to a written quote? I'd sure like to find one.

Piedmont is taking over PWM March 30th. This is just the beginning, rumor is this is just the first of many stations they will be taking over. Including MHT. 🙁

Pure speculation on my part, but my crystal ball also has EN ground taking over PIT within the next 6 months. It makes sense because PIT has high costs and insufficient revenue due to the service reductions over the past 18 months. PIT has senior mainline employees with union representation, the PIT bag belt commitment through 2013, and continuously increasing fees for gate and ramp space due to ACAA lack of planning and judgment. All of that is currently dragging on the bottom line of US.

Flash forward to September 2009. PIT mainline flights are reduced below Class B status, and EN picks up the contract to handle ground service. Now, they can hire non-union employees at 1/2 the wage, build up 70 and 86 seat Express service to CLT, PHL, and DCA, and maybe even return some Florida flights (JS and Repugnant) to increase revenues, and write off the legacy costs of the bag belt system and leases to another division of the company. All of the sudden, PIT is no longer a drain on the mainline balance sheet because the real costs are on EN's balance sheet.

Just my opinion, and something to think long and hard about. Heck, maybe I should pitch this idea and get my rightful place in the VP lineup. (sarcasm)

New Company memo today, Looks like we will lose another 7 A/C Sep/Dec.

Maybe ALPA will be able to get something finally agreed to for the flow-through. I see that they've filed suit.

You're kidding right? Everytime a flow thru has been attempted it has been put aside for one reason or another....for the past 20 years.......what makes you think that it will be any different this time.

The one thing that is different is that a suit has been filed. As I said, maybe that'll make a difference but maybe not.

Speaking of scope...an example of major outsourcing (that scope helps prevent for all employee groups and to provide more experienced crews for the traveling public) was the subject of a article published in Monday's Chicago Tribune in a column titled "Clipping union's wings, United-Aer Lingus plan to outsource pilots on overseas flights".
