Study: False statements preceded war

Wow, a politician lied to further their own interests. That is something I thought I would never see in my life time. :shock:

I started a search on the two organizations who did the study but it was too much reading. On the surface not sure how impartial they are but it is obvious that W lied through his teeth and that he has flip flopped on the mission parameters that I seriously doubt anyone really knows why we are there any more. There are no weapons, no one knows if there ever were any weapons. We are nation building in an area where nation building does not work. We will spend well over 1 trillion dollars (that's over 10% of our national debt) to build up a nation that unless we stay their indefinitely (I believe that was the original intent) will revert back to the chaos that was there earlier. We are not getting a diam out of the deal. Oil is at an all time high. Oil companies are making record profits off of our backs. The mission was accomplished over 1,700 days ago and yet ... we are still there and the death toll is approaching 4,000.

Look at this site. When you see 4,000 names listed it tends to look kind of bad

Now we get to take out a $150-$200 billion dollar load to help stimulate the economy. W should be great full that a person cannot be place in jail for incompetence and stupidity. He would be serving several consecutive life sentences.

To their defense, they figured it would be in and out. I do not believe that they ever intended for it to drag on for as long as it has. The fact that the war has been such a colossal failure has decimated the republican party. They have put this nation further into debt (I thought republicans are supposed to be fiscally conservative?), they lost Congress and they will (in all likely hood) loose the presidency in 2008. The president is motivated by greed and power and the congress lets him get away with destroying this nation because apparently their motivations coincide with his. The last 7 years have set this nation back at least 50.

Republicans are too hell bent on sticking their nose into my life and lining their pockets while the dems are too hell bent on taking my money and giving it to every bloody Tom Dick and Harry while lining their pockets.

What cracks me up is that the republicans were all up in arms that Clinton lied to a GJ about getting his knob polished in the Oval yet Bush lied and continues to lie about Iraq and who knows what but because he has not had his sorry ass hauled in front of GJ he gets off free and clear. Yea, that makes sense. The republican majority were in lock step with that clown in the Oval and the Dems had too much on their plate to screw with him. That is the one thing the Dems did (or did not do) that I agree with. Even though that clown deserves to be impeached and removed from office (along with his side kick) it would have done more harm to the nation that good (as hard as that is to believe).

FDR was in WW2. Wasn't he a dem. Not everyone thought it was a popular war. Vietnam was under Kennedy, a dem. Continued under Johnson, a useless dem. Then Nixon was crucified for finally bringing our soldiers home!

With dems we have had the higher losses of soldiers' lives. The Vietnam war was over rubber thanks to Michelin...we had to go clean the Frenchy-fufus mess. Our losses were greater during that liberal generated war.

Remember that during Billy-boy's admin in '93 first WTC attack.

So the CIA lied or was it Bush??? What about when Billy-Bob bombed those Iraqi baby formula factories? Imagine how thousands of Iraqi children died, decimating Hillary's village. CIA info, I believe.

Not sure what your implication is on WWII but FDR just happen to be Pres when Japan and Germany decided to take over the world. not like anyone had a choice on that one. We were supplying weapons and goods to England until Emperor Hirohito decided to "wake the sleeping dragon".

Good grief. What is with you and simple facts? The US was "training" South Vietnamese troops in 1956. In 1956 Pres Eisenhower was in office. Kennedy and Johnson started to escalate with the peak in Nixon and the final withdrawal. Nixon escalated the war by initiating bombing on Cambodia. The bigger fear with Viet Nam was the "spread of Communism" domino affect that was perpetuated during the 50's thanks to the likes of McCarthy, Nixon and Reagan. Regan as I recall, was in the actors guild and was helping to look out for commies. McCarthy needs no introduction (well maybe for you but you can look that up) and Nixon seemed to have his own paranoid delusions.

More and more evidence is coming to light that Cheney and Bush were cherry picking the evidence that they wanted to use to invade Iraq. There was plenty of evidence to suggest that Iraq was not a threat.

Clinton had made attempts with regards to Iraq but was accused of the tail wagging the dog. He was under investigation for lying to a GJ for getting his knob polished in the Oval. Had the republicans not been wasting time and tax payer money investigating such nonsense perhaps things may have turned out differently.

You wanted Clinton to do what in regards to the first WTC attack? Invading Iraq back then would have ended up as the same as when W did it. A complete and utter failure. Are you under some sort of delusion that terrorism can be stopped? Israel has some of the best security in the world and they have bombings on a regular basis. US airport security has always been a joke. It is still a joke and until someone steps up and decides to take it seriously it will continue to be a joke.

In my opinion, the US will be attacked again. When, who knows? But it is bound to happen. We live in a free society and that makes us vulnerable. There is not a damn thing Clinton or Bush could have done to stop the attack. Sure, Clinton could have told the people that we are going to beef up security at the ATO's. We are going to hire retired SS, Cops, DEA, ATF, CIA, FBI to help monitor our airporst and trains and docks. We are going to install snifers and cameras. We are going to create a list of people who are suspicious. We are going to have trained marshals on every flight into and out of the US. OH and by the way, the price tag will be ..... Yea. That would have worked.

Look at the history of this country or for that matter the world. No one is ever pro-active. The housing market has been a cluster phuck in the making for years and they are doing something now? It has already tanked. With out 9/11 nothing would have happened (hell , when you look at it nothing really did change) to the airports.

Our power grids, water supply, food supply are vulnerable but nothing is being done about that and nothing will be done till someone takes out a power grid. Then the sh1t will hit the fan all over again.

You can try and pretend that Bush did not lie all you want. The evidence is out there. No one wants to be near Bush. The republicans don't even want to be near Bush. Clinton is campaign for his wife and getting huge audiences. Bush is backing no one and probably will not be doing any stumping for what ever sucker gets the republican nomination. He is persona non-grata.

By the way, if you want to pin the military screw up of the hospitals in Irag on Clinton how about the hospital that was bombed in Greneda? Was that Regan's fault? No it was the military's fault. Sometimes sh1t happens and innocent people get killed. OH yea, was it Reagan's fault when Flt 655 was turned into a fire ball?

I don't have any future in Fox News so I won't dispare. I hated Reagan and thought he was a slime. Your research comes from lib news just like you accuse me of getting my facts from rep/cons. In case you didn't get it, I always agreed with Clinton's decision in office when it came to protecting the USA's interests.

Got news for you. Although the gov doesn't say it, we have been hit. I follow the siteinstitute.org and they follow terrorist chatter. Once they claimed of attacking a BP refinery in the US. The news medias claimed it was an accident with only a few deaths.

Another time the chatter was about disrupting power and making it hard to find the problem. We remember the NYC blackout that lasted a day or so a few years back. Many more died than was reported. People stuck in subways and so forth.

Then last year, or was it the year before, the Bronx had no power for weeks and no one knew. Naw, none of these were terrorists attack because our misconception is that terrorists want to kill us all. Poor disillusional hypocrite! Look at what has happened in Europe. Open your eyes and look instead of being a lemming and running to your doom. Terrorism is the firework show. While you watch it and worry about it, you don't see the invasion happening behind the scenes. I seen and lived it in Europe.

Had Gore been in the White House on 9/11, do you think the outcome would be different? You're a fool if you think we wouldn't be griping about the same things. Difference is it would be the Republicans so cry me a river.

I stated I work in a POLITICAL environment and no matter who the Party in charge is, there are things that go on behind-the-scenes that you are not meant to see, and are meant to confuse you.

Hind sight is 20/20. Perhaps during FDR's administration, the dreaded conservatives thought that Hitler was doing the US a favor.

Ever hear of the Boston Massacre? Few were killed but the numbers were overblown to make a case against Mother Britain.

ALL governments and political parties will, get this, LIE to make their case for wasting taxpayer's money. Nobody in their right mind can justify any war. History tends to be a bit exaggerated after writers are done.

But if FDR was justified to go after Hitler because he really was the monster that historians say, then are the people who were killed by Saddam and family justified? Do you remember Uddai? Training South Vietnamese is different from being involved in the war. When I hear stories from those who were actually there, when they went in to war, they were trained by, get this, the South Koreans! Americans who may have trained the SV while they were fighting with the French, were trained by the SOUTH KOREANS! Imagine that. Sometimes experience comes from things you don't find in books!

But continue to research your pro-political agenda policies to prove your point. Why not actually go talk to veterans instead of hearing your side of the story. Talk is cheap, and ironically I am living proof! So listen to veterans. There will be those who agree with you and those who don't. Tell them all what a great job they are doing, because unfortunately WAR is their job.

I'm in a quandry, trying to decide WHICH of the 3 groups of people are the DUMBEST !!

1. The War politicians(GOP), always "standing ready" to pass laws for more Nation Building

2. The Idiot people who follow them in "lock step"

Or,

3. The Morons who enlist in the military, especially those who get themselves KILLED, or F U'd for life ?

Unfortunately w/VietNam the "GD" Draft screwed a ton of people.
