Nope........US Nukes in Iran before 1/20/2009.....

“ Together we must also confront the new hazards of chemical and biological weapons, and the outlaw states, terrorists and organized criminals seeking to acquire them. Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade, and much of his nation's wealth, not on providing for the Iraqi people, but on developing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. The United Nations weapons inspectors have done a truly remarkable job, finding and destroying more of Iraq's arsenal than was destroyed during the entire gulf war. Now, Saddam Hussein wants to stop them from completing their mission. I know I speak for everyone in this chamber, Republicans and Democrats, when I say to Saddam Hussein, "You cannot defy the will of the world," and when I say to him, "You have used weapons of mass destruction before; we are determined to deny you the capacity to use them again."

People didn't realize how much Nixon and Ford accomplished until years after they were out of office.

So, say what you want about W's foreign policy. If Iraq is still standing as a democracy ten years from now, that's going to say more for W's legacy than anything the opposition has to say about him today.

That's a mighty big if. The real legacy will be IF Iraq is still standing as a democracy in 10 years and US troops are NOT there. And it's great that we liberated the Iraqi people. Maybe some other terrorist group will attack the US so that we can go in and liberate some other non-related country in retaliation.

Good point.....

No one new much about W's work in Africa until a month or so either.Funny how it was so under reported.

Uh, how long did we "occupy" Berlin, or have troops stationed in Japan, Germany and Western Europe despite their fully functioning democracies?... Or Korea? Oh, right. We're still in Korea.

Looks like its heading towards a bingo in the ME:

(CBS) A second American aircraft carrier steamed into the Persian Gulf Tuesday as the Pentagon ordered military commanders to develop new options for attacking Iran. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reports that the planning is being driven by what one officer called the "increasingly hostile role" Iran is playing in Iraq - smuggling weapons into Iraq for use against American troops.

GW gonna leave a 500 pound gorilla for Bears dream girl.....?

US troops were in Berlin (Don't we still have troops there?) to keep Russia out, not to keep the "Berliners" from killing them selves. US troops were/are in Japan to have a presence in the Pacific not to prevent the Japanese from killing each other.

Troops are in Iraq to prevent a civil war (3 factions who want to see the others dead) as well as prevent Iran and Syria from filling the vacuum that the US created in the first place.

S. Korea would seem to be the only valid comparison. Although now S. Korea is looking to unify the country.

Cheney him self said it him self:

194 Cheney speech

Nation building rarely works. It will never work if the people don't want it. The culture in Iraq is so diametrically different from ours that we cannot understand it. That is why W's policy is such an utter failure. He and his puppet masters never had a clue what they were walking into until it was far to late. They wanted a base in the ME to call their own so bad that they did not care what the cost was. In their defense, they were so clueless they did not see this coming. Not sure that is a good defense but I do not think they did it maliciously.

Rummy (bless his little short bus heart) thought Iraq would welcome us as liberators. Sure a few did and then they started to kick the asses of the folks who were pissing them off for a few hundred decades. It's not like we were marching in to Paris after we kicked the Nazis out.

BTW, wouldn't it be a hoot if Iraq were standing as a democracy in 10-20 years from now and we are a bankrupt 3rd world nation ... lol ... OH wait .. we are already heading that way.

Iraq as a democracy? Are you kidding me? Are you going to try and sell me a bridge next?

They've been killing each other in the Middle-East for the last 3,000 years.....and they'll STILL be fighting and killing each other 3,000 years AFTER America finally leaves it....

The hatred is to deep, it's part of the collective "who we are"....they live to DIE a martyr's death....

You'd think American Politicians would have learned by watching what 10 years in the Middle East did to Russia's economy..... Afghanistan is PART of the reason THEIR economy went under....
