Cabin Jumpseat Safety Policy

Okay, this topic is getting old.

But I will say this...............

The "word" is well around the system at this point. If I were one of those people that "would" be pulled off line until I fit in the jumpseat, I would be going on a diet NOW!!!!!

I would bet the farm that come the end of the year people will STILL be pulled of line.

This is serious folks...... They are NOT kidding. You will be removed from the line.

Start losing it now before you get to recurrent and/or are written up by a fellow flight attendant.

No, actually what you are referring to is the type design of the aircraft. The aircraft must conform to it's type design which specifies, among other things, the placement of items and their weight. When it doesn't conform, the item is placed on MEL which then becomes a short-term supplemental type certificate allowing the airplane to be flown under certain restrictions without conforming to its type design. Now you probably know more than you ever wanted to about type design conformity.

What has been mentioned and bears repeating is that at a bare minimum, the seat belts should be checked to assure that they are the proper model number and length. Belts are often replaced and as such are subject to being improperly installed in the wrong aircraft or position. There was an incident many years ago where a captain was unable to fasten his belt in the cockpit and was removed from the flight, only to find later that the belt was not the proper length. The same thing may be found by checking the JS seat belts as well.

Even if all the seatbelts were double in size, it does not excuse the callous and bigoted way that people here talk about their fellow employees, just because society turns it's head and tacitly approves it.

I agree with you about the smarmy, self-serving and bigoted remarks that have been made on this subject.

When we received our new Airbus orders back in '99, we got the first 319, HP. The lap belts were made way bigger. Our older airbus, Braniff planes are much smaller?? HMMM?
All of our 737 belts are huge on the West also, very old a/c. The 757 is another story, the smallest of all the fleet!??
We had a mock jumpseat of the 757, at our Inflight office in PHX. Until April of this year, we were required to strap into before recurrent, and seemed bigger than most the online fleet, go figure??
No consitiency whatsoever on all a/c type! Why? This impact, g force thing doesn't make sense to me. A 319 lap belt is bigger than a 757?? And a much smaller plane. I am not an engineer, so what gives?

Plus all the pilot jumpseat belts are HUGE on every airplane???!!!! 😱 Why??
Make all jumpseats the same, and we wouldn't have such a problem. 🙄

I’m betting that seat belts with incorrect lengths are being installed on the aircraft now.

HAY GURL!

Are you sure it isn't flight attendants of the incorrect weight working the flights?
