Any soldier or airman ordered to attack civilians armed with rifles with weapons of mass destruction or injury would have ample grounds to ignore those orders.

Manual for Courts Martial, Rule 916(d)
It is a defense to any offense that the accused was acting pursuant to orders unless the accused knew the orders to be unlawful or a person of ordinary sense and understanding would have known the orders to be unlawful.

They would have ample grounds to, but they aren't required to. What if it's one of those that is not the reliable Republican soldier and they actually follow the orders to shoot.

Well, seems to me you just described why the right to owning our own weaponry was envisioned by the Founders.
