<<Maybe we should open a candy thread?>>

Good Idea!

Does anyone want to comment about favorite places to eat or airports that have unique cuisine?

It'll beat the Hubirs that is normally on this board.

LOL....I was kidding.......but hmmm now that ya mention it. Philly has the Sky bistro at the beginning of the C concourse. It's asian and made fresh while you wait. They have an $8 menu for crew to choose from too with about 15 different things on it.

Just down the street from the long overnight hotel in JAX is Peterbrooke, home of chocolate covered popcorn and other goodies. We bring bags of popcorn as a thank you for the ground and flight crews.

Also about a block south of the hotel is bb's restaurant. Often see flight crews in there. Wonderful food at reasonable prices, and the desserts are the best! Try the Oreo mousse or white chocolate cheesecake.

Not the best diet, but McDonalds in the Pittsburgh terminal has double cheeseburgers for $1. Main food court only

Decent BBQ sandwiches in both BNA & ORF right beside our gates. The bean soup in BNA (same place) used to be great, but haven't had it in awhile.

BB's in Jax (long) is quite good - I'll second that their desserts are great. There's a little local bar called, oddly enough, "Locals" near the long JAX that has decent prices and decent "bar food", too. When you cross the street like going to BB's, turn right instead - about a block.

When the DC9 flew into LEX I remember a place downtown near the hotel called "Bologna Joe's" -- it was an old church turned into an italian restaurant.

They started your meal by giving EACH person a metal tray filled with melted butter and a baguette. WOW!!! was that place ever GOOOOD.

A highlight of a FRA layover is just walking through quaint Weisbaden or Mainz and eating at the street stalls, where authentic German fare is available. Its not only cheap, but oh so delicious!
Walking through the steets during the Christmas Market festivals and having a "wurst und gluhwein" is a treat!

When and if anyone does SNN (Shannon, Ireland) there is a restaurant in Limerick where we stay called Copper and Spice. It's Indian and Thai fused cooking. Incredible. They only bring the next course when they see you are done with the first. It is definately a leisurely meal. I can't wait to get back there in May.

It's Joe Bologna's.....and it's still there.

Malone's is the best in Lexington. Anytime Keeneland is running!

Ok.. I just have to know what one of these things is. I'm guessing from "wurst" it's at least some kind of sausage?

When we flew to SAT couldn't pass up Dick's Last Resort. Good food and the fun of the riverwalk ambiance. Memories...

AUS - If layover hotel is downtown, you must not miss Katz's Deli on 6th Street west of Congress Avenue. Open 24 hours. Fabulous jewish deli food. Try the fried pickles--yes, that's what I said. They are heaven. Also the potato pancakes.

ORD - If in AA terminal, try the grilled salmon sandwich at the Prairie Tap bar in the main food court at junction of H & K concourses. They have a togo counter on the K concourse side of the bar where you can order without "being in the bar in uniform." Also, they are the only vendor I know of at ORD that offers an employee discount.

Sausage and mulled wine.

OK. How did this thread get this far and NO one mention Krispy Kremes between B & C in CLT?
