For those reading this post who are not aware of the new Airman Certificate that the FAA is planning please read further.

The new design does not have a picture of Charles E. Taylor, the FIRST mechanic of powered controlled flight. If not for his contributions to aviation the Wright Flyer would have remained the Wright Glider and the Wright brothers would NOT have been the first in manned flight. Not having Charlie's picture prominently displayed on the new Airman Certificate is very disrespectful. I am asking all reading this post to please contact Matt Thurber of AM magazine at [email protected] and Joe Escobar of AMT magazine at [email protected]. Both are Editors of their respective magazines. Also contact James J. Ballough of the FAA. Mr. Ballough is the man to contact regarding giving Charels E. Taylor the respect he earned. Mr. Ballough's mailing address is FAA National Headquarters, AFS-1 Jim Ballough, 800 Independence Ave. SW, Washington DC 20591.
History as a whole has forgotten Charles E. Taylor for the past 100 years. History is now getting ready to forget him altogether. This is not acceptable. For all of us who have followed in his professional footsteps please write and e-mail to speak up for Mr. Taylor. As an AA AMT and Director of the AMTA, www.amtausa.com, I thank you for your assistance in this important issue.
