Looking for some honest opinions from those out there who are or have worked for them. Where are they using 76''s?

Cheers!

My experience with them has been quite good. Treated fairly from day one. In my humble opinion, a very professional operation.

the only gripe i had with them were the long shifts. the LAST one being 10 weeks.......

other than that they treat you ok and the tax break is nice.

they use the 76's in thailand, philippines, burma, indonesia, iran, azerbijian......

did i miss any?

That's OK, 412. Bladestrike missed the ALL in his first effort.

I've never worked Malabo but all agree it is a dump. The good news is that it is being crewed by CHC Africa division ( the helicopter company formerly known as Cort). They don't want to pay Cdn. wages or airfares and try to crew it with South Africans. Every single person I knew who worked there came back with Malaria. However CHC has quite a few nice jobs they will send you to if you are one of the chosen.

Hmmmm, Malabo or Manning, ????????

Us pilots sure have a lot of tough decisions to make, eh ??

Right. Root canal or colonoscopy. However...does anyone
know what the range of salaries and benifits are at CHC Int these days. I've heard it is still notsohotso and that they include the internation tax credit as the reason. This is interesting as the policy manual used to say and probably still does that the company is not responsible for personal taxes (meaning that if they want you to do a tour in Canada which will screw up the tax break thats just too bad.) Time for a raise I think. However given the fact that they and everyone else apparently have excess personnel this is not likely to happen soon.

Well, Duece,

Perfect timing, we just received a 4% payraise yesterday. As for your concerns about a domestic tour messing with the tax break. We have, on occasion, had local pilots drop into YHZ that usually work overseas. Head office is very aware about the limits and they do their best to make sure that they don't go over the ten percent limit, 18 days for most people that do the normal tours.

As for the pay and benefits, it's hard to compare with anything in Canada. Every job is different, some do better than others. I've seen copilots paid a lot more than certain captains on the same aircraft. It depends on pilot experience and what their history with the company is.

Like I've said before, I have been very fortunate with the training I've received from CHW/CHC, from Penticton to now. I spent a brief time at Helijet that I really enjoyed too, but moved on due to my parents' medical issues and the chance to work in my home province.

What are the South Africans like to work with, as crews. Heard they can be a bit difficult at times

From personal experience, the Springboks are a lot more fun to work with than the Canadians. Come to think of it, so are the Brits, Aussies and Kiwi's. But that could all change in November when the Rugby World cup starts. Also from personal experience don't believe all the negative reports about CHC, they've been very good to me, all I had to do was work hard. Cheers

...Also from personal experience don't believe all the negative reports about CHC..."

Are you saying that we are all making these stories up ????

407,

It may not be a case of making things up, but a matter of who you are referring to. As a base manager for "bend-over-Bob", how many dealings did you have with St.John's (CHC)?

We all felt your pain when you used to get a visit from CHW marketing in Edmonton and then subsequently lost revenue as you had to do damage control with the customers.

You are in a much better place now, too bad it took so long to see the light, eh?
