Theres enough internal strife in Pakistan that I seriously don't think it needs helped along from Uncle Sam....granted we do have interests there as far as keeping nukes in someones hands with relative sanity.Musharraf's survivability this long is an achievement.I believe radical fundamentalists are well seeded into the democratic?? process and someday over the horizon will gain control.

Musharraf has everything to gain from eliminating competition...especially her....I know they claim he was not involved and it may actually be a terrorist hit due to her western stances.All in all though,I would never discount old Pervie having 'friends' in low places....look at his reaction over the past few months over an impending court decision regarding his election.

Because little Dick has broached the subject of "tactical nuclear" attacks in Iran. Then the CIA reports show that they aren't as big a threat as we'd been told. So, it isn't that far fetched to think that maybe big Dick had a little something to do with stirring up a little unrest in a country that HAS a nuke and is being run by a "little Castro" (we haven't been fond of the big Castro for 50 years - why would we be fond of a little Castro with a nuke?). Then...we could establish a stronger military presence in Pakistan and use that as the springboard to attacking Iran, much as we used Afghanistan as the springboard to Iraq. Just a thought.

NHBB I don't see how it is a (Bush/Cheney) (Blackwater/Halliburton) conspiracy. if the (US GOV.) had'nt forced Musharraf's hand, Bhutto would have never again been allowed to be involved in the political process in Pakistan. she had been banned after being accused of corruption and mis-management. Surely your not suggesting this was all designed by our Leaders to further de-stabilize the region, especially an Islamic country that has nukes.

As Dell points out, there are elements of Radical Islam in the Musharraf led government and it's been pointed out that even the military is comprised with some who are sympathetic to the Taliban/ Al Qaeda. I don't think Musharraf himself ordered the hit, but it would come as no surprise if some close to him were involved.

Look, the Radical Islamist had every reason to knock her off. she vowed to seperate religion from politics and make pakistan more like the west. Thats the last thing the fundamentalist want, their ultimate goal is to create sharia law and gain possession of those nukes. To me this has bin laden written all over it!

FWIW....there have been nine assasination attempts on Musharraf himself. Its really quite clear who wants control of Pakistan and the Nukes.
